T'was a sunny afternoon, a slight breeze blowing in from the east, fanning through each caravan and set up shop in the crowded plaza. Three young men navigated their way through the mass of people partaking in this week's flea market. It was the perfect day to be out, so these three men took it upon themselves to make the most of it.
"Why are we here?" The smallest of the three whined. Beads of sweat formed along his brow, occasionally he would bring his arm up to wipe it away. Dark hair stuck to his forehead, the majority covered up by a navy blue beanie. He trailed a bit behind his two friends, who were leading through the crowds holding each other's hands. He was already annoyed by the blistering temperatures, but now seeing his friends be all lovey-dovey only added to his suffering. Why, oh why did he deserve such fate?
The taller of the two looked over his shoulder, his shaggy brown hair not doing his glistening eyes much justice. He flashed the smaller a quick smile. "We won't be here long," he reassured, "If you wanna go get some lemonade or something I will gladly pa-" he was interrupted by the smaller giving out a yip of joy and quickly snatched the tallers wallet out of his back pocket.
"Quackity!" the taller exclaimed, "Please don't take too much."
"I won't, I won't," Quackity smiled, grabbing a couple of twenties. The taller, whose name was Karl, scowled at the man's childlike behavior. The third man chuckled, pulling his boyfriend, Karl along with him as they left Quackity to his own devices, calling a quick, "See you in ten minutes!"
Karl and his boyfriend Sapnap walked away giggling among themselves, quietly hoping they wouldn't regret leaving the man-child alone. They strolled through the streets and alleys, buying whatever fancied them at that moment, not caring about how much use it would have later on. The boyfriends' favorite purchase so far was matching rings, their names custom-printed on each others', fitting their fingers perfectly, and when their hands intertwined the rings clanked against each other. Karl couldn't help but giggle at the sappiness of it all, but nonetheless, the spawning butterflies in his stomach festered.
They continued walking the streets, shop after shop becoming a blur until something caught Karl's eye. His head snapped over to whatever it was and his body came to a halt, dragging Sapnap along with him. Sapnap spun around to face his boyfriend, trying to catch his eye. Karl was unfortunately fixated on a certain object, and his body followed suit in bringing him closer to said thing. His body seemed to move through the crowd like water, dragging his confused boyfriend behind him until they reached a certain shop. In the window of the shop sat a lifesize armadillo figurine, a bit curled up to replicate a real armadillos stance. Karl didn't know why he was so intrigued by such an object, but he was. His eyes darted to the price tag. It happened to be on sale, the new price being only 20 dollars. Karl fished out his wallet, only to frown when he noticed he didn't have the cash for it. Sapnap looked from his disappointed boyfriend to the armadillo, which was quite creepy in his opinion.
He looked at Karl again, "You... want that?" he asked cautiously. Karl could only frown and nod. Sapnaps face morphed into one of pity until an idea formed in his mind. Using his free hand he pulled out his wallet, checking how much he still had. A small smirk appeared on his face.
"Ya'know babe, I happen to have enough money for that."Karls gaze snapped to his boyfriend, hope blossoming in his chest. "Really? Would you?" His boyfriend nodded, but then sneakily replied, "You'll have to pay me back though~" Karl nodded rapidly, they could easily stop by the bank on the way home. Sapnap unfortunately had other plans. He muttered a quick "be right back" before walking into the shop, leaving Karl alone outside.
