Chapter 5

Alice's POV

I set the baggie with the shard of glass down as Travis walks up to me.

"So do you think that they came through the window?"

"No, it's on the other side of the ballroom. If they did come in through the window they would have to walk across the ballroom bleeding. How are you supposed to hide that? But it's a possibility." Travis nods his head as in agreement. I pull my iPhone out of my pocket and check the time. 11:47!!! I need to get home now!! I bet Rose and Alex are freaking out about where I am. "Hey Travis I got to go. My roommates are probably wondering where I am. Call me if anything else happens. Ok?"

"Yeah, yeah. I'll call you. I'm still wondering why you have roommates to begin with." Travis yelled after me as I waved goodbye over my shoulder with a smile on my face. I walked out onto the busy street and waved down a taxi.

"Where to miss?" The cabbie asked me. I gave him the address of the CIA and he pulled away from the curb. When we got to the entrance of the CIA I got out after paying. As I was walking away the cabbie rolled down his window.

"Watch you back Miss. Wolf. It could get a little ugly." I turned around to ask him what he meant but he was already gone. I don't have time to think about this right now. Just like Travis said my baby was just fine. No scratches or scuffs; I was in a good mood now. I turned the key, it roared to life and I sped out of the CIAs' garage. I waved to Man Bear as I passed the gate and he just glared back. Remind me again to never get on his bad side. As I got near the back of the neighborhood I turned off my headlight and just let the engine purr. I slowly drove down the street as to not alert anyone of my arrival. When I got into the garage Alex's and Rose's bikes were missing. Maybe I can sneak into the house without them asking questions or the breathing on my shoulder wondering where I was. I walked up to the front door and slowly turned the key hoping that it wouldn't make to much noise. The lock clicked but not as loud as usual, which I was glad for. I got half way up the stairs when I heard a noise behind me.

"Hello Miss. Wolf. If I may ask you a question." I turned and saw the Wood family butler.

"Oh course Sebastian, you can ask me anything." I say truthfully. He nods.

"Were you with a man tonight?" I'm stunned by what Sebastian just asked but I soon regain my senses and fake a blush. I look towards the ground as if he caught me.

"How'd you know?" I lie. It wasn't really a lie I was with Travis but not intimately.

"Just a hunch Miss. Wolf. Have a good night." I turned and started walking back up the stairs. "Your secrets safe with me Miss. Wolf."

"What secret?" I ask wondering what he meant.

"Your little boyfriend. Why what do you think I meant?"

"Oh, nothing just wondering." That was the second time tonight that people have confused me but I don't have time for that. I need to figure out these cases. I finished walking to my room and locked the door behind me. I settled on my California king size bed (again must I remind you they a LAODED!! And this is only a guest room that they gave me. Just imagine the size of their bed.) with the cases of the FBI and JP Morgan Bank robberies and the many other little ones, trying to put them together. My mind started to wonder to what the cabbie said. Watch my back? Yes to get to the position I'm in now I had put many people behind bars. Even some corrupt business men. Is that what he meant? That the people that got out of prison, that were in there because of me, are coming after me? I don't think so. They would be stupid to come after the head of the special agent division. Talk about all the security they would have to go thought just to get to the floor I'm on, it would be impossible. Also I have my gun on me at all times. It may not be on my belt but it's somewhere on me. So if anyone even got past security they wouldn't get past me. I had to train fast and hard to get to where I am at the age of 23. I'm pretty sure they're not going to get very far. Also what could get ugly? I wonder as I slowly fell asleep.
