A sigh fell from Meadow's lips, the club music booming in her ears. With every whoosh of the bass, her heart rate picked up a bit more. She thought this was finally going to be a date. But again, she was let down.

"Rosie, come on. It's fun! Let loose. Dance! Grab a drink!" Came the voice of her friend Natasha. Nat was everything Meadow wasn't. She was extroverted, loud, and one hell of a flirt. She was an outgoing dare devil who could have fun doing anything. Everyone loved Natasha. She was a redheaded fire ball. While Meadow was her weird friend. Nat spunky personality always seemed to outshine the more quiet, artistic personality of Meadow Rose Madden. Not that she minded. Going unnoticed by the masses was okay with her.

"I'm not in the mood for dancing, Nat." Her short brunette friend said as she sat on one of the clubs soft leather couches.

"Rosie," Natasha thinned her friend's nickname. "Come on. Tell me whats wrong." She said, seating herself down on the couch next to Meadow Rose. Rosie bit her lip. She hated always feeling like she was slowing Nat down. Nat could be having so much fun if she wasn't always checking in on her friend.

"It's just... well..." Rosie couldn't even finish what she was going to say. Nat scooted over closer to her, grabbing her hands.

"I swear to god, if this is about Steve..." Her voice trailed off when she looked at her sweet friends face. The way her little nose scrunched up proved to her that she was right.

Steve Rogers. Meadow's best friend. He was a few years older than her, but the two of them had met in college. Meadow was the young new girl determined to get in and out of University quickly so she could get her dream job and go see the world. Then there was Steve who took years off after high school traveling around different parts of the world having fun at the expense  of his parents bank account. It wasn't until they passed that he started getting serious about his future. He moved back to Brooklyn and ended up attending college there where Meadow did. The two of them became roommates and hit it off quickly. Years had passed since then, but they stayed in each others lives. Meadow had been head over heels for Steve since the moment she met him, but he didn't see her as anything else than his dorky best friend. Tonight, Sam and Nat were going out. They invited Steve, and Steve invited her. She thought it was finally supposed to be a date, but instead, it was Steve and Sam taking shots together and dancing with whichever girls were working at the club that night. Nat was all for going out and having fun with them. And Meadow wanted to be fun too, but it hurt her to get ignored by the man she'd secretly been in love with for years.

"I'm going to give you some tough love, okay, Meadow?" Natasha said, gently playing with a strand of Meadow's long, dark hair. Her sad friend gave her a little nod.
