"I'm still not so sure about this, Golf Ball."
"How can you not be? My plans are always foolproof!"
Cloudy sighed, unsure of how to proceed. He didn't even know if he wanted to keep going forward with Golf Ball's help. Becoming the Red Team's leader was an idea that had made Cloudy nervous from the beginning, but he still took the job with a smile. Why not? If his teammates believed in him then why not take up the mantle?
Turns out Golf Ball was the reason why.
Golf Ball was the original one to suggest Cloudy take up the role of team leader, and so he took her offer to help him become a better leader as just her being helpful. Turns out it was more a ploy to turn Cloudy into a mouthpiece for GB's ideas. Cloudy was no fool; he knew what Golf Ball wanted from him.
She didn't want a leader, she wanted a puppet.
You'd think that being aware of that fact would make it easy to tell the girl off, but you'd be mistaken. Cloudy didn't like feeling like a pushover, but he knew that calling out Golf Ball on her plan would only make the situation with the Red Team worse. Things were already so volatile between the team and it was breaking up into factions. Bell, Lightning, and Fanny were very opposed to anything involving Golf Ball, and GB wasn't their biggest fan either. Needle and Book talked to each other, but not really anybody else. That left Saw and Pie, who were...wild cards, to say the least. They barely talked to anyone. Especially Pie. Saw at least would speak to everyone on the team, she just wasn't friends with them. Pie on the other hand just sat around, that same uninterested look on her face.
"I find your lack of faith annoying, Cloudy," Golf Ball grumbled, not turning away from her workbench. The two of them had been meeting in her underground factory since their little arrangement had started. It was secluded, and most people didn't want to make the effort of going down and back up the stairs. It offered them proper privacy.
A loud clattering of metal on metal broke Cloudy from his thoughts. Golf Ball turned away from her workbench and toward Cloudy, her wall teleporter in her grasp. Cloudy didn't know much about GB's wall teleporter, only that she and Tennis Ball found it in Yoyle City while he was still trapped in the TLC. It was the wall teleporter that had freed him and the other after BFDIA had ended, even if took multiple months to eventually get his turn.
Golf Ball placed the wall teleporter and pressed the 'ON' button. The device whirred to life and Cloudy could feel heat begin to emanate off of it despite not even being close to it. Golf Ball smiled down at the device as she pointed it downward.
"The moment of truth," she said, almost manic. Cloudy looked away, bracing himself for the worst. The loud noises of the machine reached a crescendo as a blast went off in the confines of the factory. After that there was silence. Cloudy slowly opened his eyes and stared in shock at what he saw. In between, he and Golf Ball was a portal. A portal that he was greatly familiar with.
"You actually did it," Cloudy said breathlessly, "I can't believe it."
"Believe it," GB laughed, "say goodbye to the wall teleporter, and hello to the wall AND floor teleporter!"
Golf Ball felt like she could climb a mountain. She'd been working on the wall teleporter for months now, and all her efforts had finally paid off. Despite how it may have looked, the wall teleporter was actually a complicated piece of technology. It was somehow able to always sense when it was being fired at a wall or a floor. So, she and Tennis Ball made it their objective to find out how it ticked and make it more versatile. Progress on that plan had slowed down after she and Tennis Ball got put on different teams, but that didn't stop her from pushing forward with the testing, and she'd finally done it.
