The Lush, Velvet Wood

'People don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed.'

The realm of humanity is largely selfish. 'To each, their own' is the philosophy we live by. Our daily bread and a warm house are enough to cover our eyes. The small cold feet tottering outside during Christmas starkly contrasts the warm merry-making inside. It is not that we cannot see, but it is that we choose to not see. To see is to take responsibility, on which we are not too keen.

'What difference does it make?' claims another sect, 'There are far too many,'. They do not see that the smallest seed could become a forest. They do not realize that the smallest difference is, still, a difference.

The contrasts have grown steep, and our indifference toward it only further dips the balance. The lush, velvet cushions and the hard stale wood that doubles as a pillow. Does the disparity not seem too sharp to you?

'What can we do?' one might ask. To which I have, but, one solution; 'Open your eyes, and see,'. When you truly see the darker side of humanity, your instinct will react in your stead. For mankind's sole problem is ignorance and apathy, without them, all that's left is a kind heart.
