Two Gods

Chapter 3

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something whiz by. What was that? Her instincts told her to retreat, even though she hadn't seen a volcano yet, but she succumbed to her intense curiosity. She followed the direction of where the object had zoomed past. Kaleia reached the top of the rock and whirled around. Where did it go? She looked over the rocky landscape. Suddenly, a voice spoke, and Kaleia jumped in mid-air.

"Hey you!" A boy's voice boomed.

Kaleia whipped around, startled.

A young god hovered in midair. Kaleia felt her face grow warm in panic as she looked at the boy. He looked about her age with black hair and red highlights. Kaleia suspected that he was some kind of ruffian, the type her mother had told horrifying stories about their dangerous behaviors, shameful hobbies, and savagery—and as a result, Kaleia was forever paranoid of boys, thinking that all boys were wild and reckless. He wore gold armbands embellished with rubies and it clearly showed his muscles.

The young god looked her up and down, "What are you doing here? Who are you? Hey, you're not from here are you? We don't have blonde people here, and we all wear clothes in the shade of red," He nodded at Kaleia's attire, which was white and blue.

Kaleia froze, "Um... I was exploring, I didn't mean to trespass! Uh, I have to go now." She whipped around and started flying away. She caught the boy smirking, and suddenly, he reached out and wrapped his arms around her and flew back down to the ground. Then he pinned her against a boulder, both of his arms next to her shoulders so that Kaleia had no way to escape. "Hey—!" Kaleia began, alarmed, but quickly shut her mouth, surprised by his advances.

"Where d'you think you're going, princess? Didn't your parents teach you how to be a good girl?" the boy said in an all-too-gentle voice. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
