Amber POV
The day went by at a horribly slow pace. Sitting in my last class, I find myself daydreaming. At least it's friday, so I get off school at 2:00 instead of 3:15. I glance over at the clock, reading the time as 1:32. 28 minutes left I thought.
For the next while I just stared off into space, not paying attention in class. It's not like I needed to anyway, I've already finished the unit.
When the bell finally rings, after what felt like a lifetime, I met up with Charlotte. The moment we walked out of the doors of the school, she asked me a question.
"So, um, there's gonna be a party tonight that I heard about, so I was wondering if you wanted to go?"
I've never been to a high school party before. Whenever Charlotte asks if I want to go I always make up an excuse, usually studying.
"I know you will probably say no, I figured I would ask just in case." She added. "But honestly, I think you should come. YOLO right?"
She does have a point. I ought to go to a party at some point or another. And this day has been going bad enough, I highly doubt it could get any worse.
"You know what." I say. "Why not."
A grin spreads on Charlotte's face as I said that.
"Yes!" She exclaimed happily. "I'll text you the address, and I'll pick you up at 8. I'm so excited!" She begins to walk to her car, as I walk to the bus.
As I walk on the bus, I make eye contact with those same green orbs I saw earlier today. "Why are you here nerd!" The curly haired boy yelled at me as I walked past. I tried to ignore him, just like always. I hear another, less deep, voice right after. "Harry, stop being so mean to her. If you don't have something nice to say just don't say it."
I subconsciously thank the small blue eyed boy who said that. I think his name was Louis, but I've never talked to him. I don't know why he would be friends with such a mean guy, but I'm not going to say anything.
At 7:30 I realized I needed to find something to wear for the party. I would just go in my jeans and hoodie, but I know Charlotte will make me change anyways. I look in my closet and find a black dress pushed to the back of the closet. I saw the price tag was still on it. I ripped off the tag and slid it on. This is not something I would usually wear, but I've already stepped outside my comfort zone agreeing to go to the party, so why not do this?
I put on a bit of mascara and some lip gloss. I decided to put contacts in so I didn't have to wear my glasses. I normally didn't wear contacts, I just didn't like the feel of them. I also straightened my hair, making it appear much longer than it normally does in its wavy form.
I hear a knock at the door, and jog down the stairs to great Charlotte. A shocked expression appears on her face as I open the door.
"Amber!" She yelled, shocked. "You look amazing! You should dress like this more often!"
I smile and look down, her words boosting my confidence. "Enjoy it while you can, I'm probably never going to do this again for a very long time." I say.
"Well, we better get going so we aren't late." She replied.
I lock the door behind me as we head toward Charlotte's car, nervous for the following events of tonight.
Next chapter is when its going to start getting interesting!
