You'd planned to spend your weekend binging the new game you'd heard flying around online instead of hanging out with your friends. You see them everyday, anyway. You did not have an addiction. Nope. Never.

Saturday morning you hauled your ass out of bed and put on something other than a clean pair of pajamas. The only store that wasn't completely sold out was a dingy game shop in the local mall. Not really where you wanted to be on your weekend, but 'the grind never stops,' or what ever the fuck.

You tucked your hands in your pockets as you strolled down the building, until you finally located the not-so-desired store. You'd, sadly, been in this place enough times to know the layout, so you rushed to the section for newly released games as soon as you stepped inside.

You didn't even wait to register any of your other surroundings, the only thing on your mind was the gleaming, new cover of the untouched game. When you reached your arm out to pluck it up, you were stopped by another looking to do the same thing.

"Ah, ah, ah, hands off. I call dibs," you mused. Although, internally, you were serious as hell. No way on earth was someone else getting your game.

The tall, white-haired guy on your left looked over to you with a slightly bitter expression after a moment, "Do you play Valour?" he asked.

You paled. That voice sounded scarily familiar. Oh god. No, no, no.

You hit your head lightly against the shelf of games in front of you, "Are you shitting me right now..." you groaned.

"Is that a yes?"

"Are you that guy I played with the other day? The annoying Reyna main?" you questioned while you turned your head to face him.

He scowled ever so slightly, "Yeah. I was the annoying one."

You took your head off the shelf and straightened out your posture, "Right, anyway, I don't care if your ego is still bruised. I'm buying this game."

Both of you still had your arms out, a movement away from grabbing it. Way too stubborn to move.

"My ego is still bruised. So," he quickly grabbed the game before you could react and placed it on one of the highest racks, covering it with some of the other packages. You couldn't even see it anymore. The hell is he doing? "I propose a 1v1, whoever wins has to buy the other this last copy of Bulletville."

Really? That's what he got out of this? You sent him a weak glare as you crossed your arms over your chest, "You sure? Really think you can take a second loss?"

"I won't have to, just make sure you still have a personality when you have no room to be so cocky anymore," he answered.

You scoffed, "Right. Do you remember my user?"

"Sadly."

"Tonight, then. Nine pm, be online."

You snapped on your headphones, wincing at the pain from the sudden pressure placed on your earlobes. 'All pain, all gain.' It's honestly sad to think about how many terrible gaming quotes there are out there that sweaty discord mods use to justify the fact they haven't left their 'chair with outstanding lumbar support' in two days. Crazy.

Clicking on the Valour icon on your desktop once your monitors lit up, you logged in and waited for the guy to request. You didn't even know his damn name.

The odds of it all were fucking insane. Of course the one dude that had managed to really get under skin on this game had to be the one you conveniently ran into at the mall. Aren't you just the luckiest person alive?
