Sarah was the product of an affair that her mom had with a witch. She is the same age as Stefan and they were raised as twins until her powers started to come out. Her father started to hate her after that and would neglect her. Once they were turned the Salvatore sibling went their separate ways. Decades later they came back together in Mystic Falls. They met Elena Gilbert and her friends and they became best friends. They had many adventures and faced many evil forces. Sarah felt that no one understood her until she met Niklaus Mikaelson.
They hit it off from the start, even though no one else liked him. She related to him because they were both hated children. They would sneak around so no one would know about their relationship. Months later they got caught and people were mad especially Damon and Stefan. They learned to live with it because he made Sarah happy. Nik and Sarah later moved in together and started planning a life with each other.
After knowing each other for about a year Niklaus proposed to Sarah and she said yes. They were planning to have a wedding in the fall because that was when they first met. Sarah had her dressed picked out and everything. They wanted to move to New Orleans together after they got married. Sarah was in love with the big bad hybrid but the truth soon caught up to her.
One night she was feeling really sick so she went over to Elena's house to take a pregnancy test because they forced her. Once the test was done she looked at it and it said... POSITIVE. Sarah then remembered that since Klaus was born a wolf he could procreate and she couldn't be happier. When she first turned she was sad about not being able to have children. Sarah was so excited to tell her fiance so she drove home quickly.
When she opened the door she saw a worried look on Rebekah's face and just ignored all the shouts coming from her and Elijah. When she went upstairs she saw her fiance in bed with one of her close friends, Hayley Marshall. She waited for Klaus to say something but all he said to her was, "I don't need to explain myself to you." and he walked into the bathroom. After that, she ran out of the house and drove to see her brothers.
Once she got to their house she told them everything, him cheating on her and about her being pregnant. They were furious but instead of going to him, they stayed with their sister. The next day she found out that the whole family left for New Orleans because Hayley was pregnant. Sarah was crushed and depressed but once the twins were born she had a reason to live. After that he life went amazing, she gave birth to 4 more kids and adopted another one. She fell in love again and got married. She opened up a school with her brothers that she runs and she was finally happy.
