It's the next day and Sophia wakes up to a text from Wade.
Wade: I hope you have a polo shirt and a skirt... because we're going golfing with Ander and Mackayla! I'll pick you up in 30 minutes.
Wade: oh and sneakers. I'll make sure to bring you a hat.
Sophia's eyes widen. Golfing? She felt like it was an unspoken rule that when the guys went golfing, the girls get to go to the country club spa or play tennis - though she would only go to the spa.
Sophia had all this planned out if she would ever end up with a hockey player, which looks like she did.
Me: Sounds fun! I'll be ready.
When she responds, Mackayla comes into her room. "Golfing?! Did you give him this idea?"
"What? No. I would never. Ander and Wade definitely talked about this." Sophia defends herself. "I'm 100% sure that Bryce and Travis did some convincing too."
"Fuck, this is going to be so boring but we like them so I guess we need to give it a try. I found cute outfits though. Wanna see?"
Sophia nods. "Of course."
While they look for their clothes they talk. "You think Bryce will bring Marie? She was so fun the other night." Mackayla asks.
"Maybe. Then we'll suffer a little less. Hopefully, Travis brings a girl too. Balance it out." Sophia responds. "Isn't it weird that we reference them by the first name now? We went from Bailey to Byrce and from Hall to Travis."
"So weird. The guys still call them that but I guess it's an athlete thing."
They finish getting ready and they find out that Marie is coming and Travis is bringing a girl named Mia. Sophia and Mackayla immediately ask for her social media though they haven't met her yet.
Ander picks up Mackayla first since they had somewhere to go first, or something to do first. One or the other. Wade picks up Sophia a few minutes later. She checks that she's got everything and they're on the road.
"Ever been golfing?" Wade asks her.
Sophia shakes her head. "No. Didn't think I would ever, honestly."
Wade laughs. "It's fun. When you play it of course. I wouldn't watch it, either."
Sophia turns to him."I never said it was-"
"It's okay, Soph. I like things fast-paced too." He cuts her off and at the end, he winks at her. Her cheeks turn bright red.
For the rest of the drive, Wade explains how golf works and which club she can use. Sophia has no idea what he's saying but she still listens and tries to understand, but only because he likes it. Once they get there, Mackayla, Sophia, and Marie finally get to meet Mia and they all love her. They become friends instantly.
"Okay, so, there are 18 holes, whoever has to hit the ball fewer times to get in wins. Capiche?" Ander explains.
"Capiche." Everyone else says. "But what do we win?" Mia asks.
Ander smirks. "Well, to make things even more competitive, the person who has to hit the ball most times, treats the winner to whatever kind of food or activity they want."
A smile grows on all the boys' faces and the girls' drop. They knew that one of them would have to buy something really expensive for one of the guys because they have absolutely no idea how to play.
