Chapter Two - First Day, New School

September 6th, 2016. 6:30 AM

The rising sun peered into the window of the small New York apartment 7 floors up. A groan came from a girl hiding under her blanket in bed as a repetitive beep came from her phone. Her arm stuck out from under the blanket as she clumsily reached around for her phone, eventually shutting the alarm off. Pulling her blanket down as she sat up, the girl rubbed her eyes before mumbling to herself. "Okay first day of school, let's do this."

Getting up, Paige turned on some music and began to get ready. The song "Who Will I Be?" from the movie Camp Rock played from her laptop as she wandered around her room. Picturing herself in a Disney Channel Original Movie, the young girl went through her closet trying to decide what to wear for the day. As she lip-synced along to the song eventually she settled on a plaid button-up with a red crewneck sweater over top of it and some mom jeans.

After putting on some mascara, concealer, blush, and highlighter, Paige grabbed her backpack and exited her room. The girl walked into her kitchen to find her aunt and her brother eating breakfast.

"Morning Paige!" Aunt May said cheerily. She was almost always up this early anyway, Paige and Peter on the other hand... we're not the kind to wake up early.

Peter was hunched over a bowl of cereal at the countertop.

"Good morning," Paige said, a yawn following shortly after. With a sigh, she dropped her backpack on the couch and walked over to the table. She looked at her brother to find he was wearing a grey and blue plaid button-down with a blue crewneck over it. "What the hell Peter?"

"What?!" He said confused, looking up from his cereal.

"What you're wearing! What I'm wearing! We look like twins!" She exclaimed. "Oh my god, I gotta go change..." She said before marching off to her room.

Peter snickered as she walked away. "She's so dramatic." He said as he looked over to May. 

Paige entered her room and immediately went to her closet. She rummaged around before finally grabbing a small white t-shirt, a blue sweater vest, keeping the same jeans she had on before. "Much better." She said to herself as she looked in her mirror. "Let's try this again."

She walked back out to where the rest of her small family was. "That's cute!" May commented with a small smile as she took Peter's empty bowl and put it in the sink.

"You think?" Paige added. As someone who normally just wore sweatshirts, she wasn't used to getting compliments on her outfits. "Thanks.." She laughed lightly and took a seat at the table.

Peter walked behind her and patted her shoulder. "Paige we gotta go or else we're gonna be late!"

"But I haven't eaten anything!"

"Too bad! Have a banana or something!" He said tossing a banana at the girl.

She held her hands up, clumsily catching the banana as it nearly fell out of her hands. She stood up and went to grab her backpack. Peter then rushed out the door. "Okay well, I guess I'll see you later!" Paige said to May as she headed towards the door.

"What time are you done?" May asked.

"2:45! Love you! Bye!" She said as he was pulled out of the apartment by her brother. 

Paige and Peter then walked the short distance to the subway station as Paige ate her banana. The school Paige used to attend was only a short walk from their apartment so she never needed to take the subway to get to school, until now that is. The two weaved their way through the crowded subway station before boarding their train. It was a good thing Peter had done this before or else they never would've made it to school on time. The brother and sister filed onto the crowded train and were on their way to Midtown Tech.
