Why is it dark? Why can't I see anything, better question where is
everyone? I don't see anyone, am I alone? Dad? No, it can't be, why do you look like that? Where's the blood coming from?

"You don't deserve to be here" the man says as he inches closer.

Suddenly a breeze rushes through Amelia's body as she starts to stir in her sleep. Her eyes begin to slowly open as she realizes it's morning and the window was left open.

"Ah, a bad dream. Why didn't my alarm didn't go off this morning, I either really missed it or I'm up before it again".

She grabs the clock and a small frown appears upon the girl's face. She never really got much sleep no matter how hard she tried. The clock was blinking, reading 4:47 am. She groaned, grabbed her phone and pulled the cover back over to lay in the bed. The logic was there but once Amelia was up, she was up for good.  She checked her phone, not for notifications but for the news today she always liked to be up to date. The covers then flew off her as she frantically stood up and ran over to her closet to find a sweatshirt. The goosebumps on her arms and legs made themselves known and she started to shiver.

"Shit it's cold, I don't remember the weather saying it was going to be this cold, then again it's only five in the morning. It'll warm up, right?"

She tried her best to pull the dark blue comforter she was just under back over her bed but gave up after a few seconds and headed for the bedroom door. She opened it and tiredly walked to her kitchen to turn the machine on to brew the coffee she desperately needed. Amelia then turned to her refrigerator and opened the square door. She took up a squatting position to grab the eggs in their container. Her free hand opened the drawer below them to grab a half cut up pepper and some feta cheese sitting in a blue container.

Breakfast for her was almost always the same. Half a pepper, some cheese and two eggs in the form of an omelet, her taste buds never seemed to get tired of it and her stomach didn't mind. The gas stove then clicked on as her hand started to move the knob and she placed a medium size pan over the burner. By the time she had cut up the pepper into mini chunks, cracked the eggs, poured in the cheese along with some butter, the coffee maker dinged. Amelia finished cooking her omelet then stood on her tippy toes to reach the cabinet above the sink to grab a mug.

The black coffee was then poured into the mug, she didn't add anything to it as she liked the strong taste alone. She sat on the swivel chair by her counter, her back facing the living room and the windows that showcase the sun just as it was rising on the buildings around her. She took her time eating breakfast this morning savoring the bites and sips of coffee. After she was done she rinsed all her dishes and set them in the dishwasher.

The bathroom was next on her list as she opened the door and grabbed her toothbrush. She loved the mint taste in her mouth and after she was done, the mint amplified the cold she was breathing in around her. She grabbed the cloth behind her door and began to wash her face after tying her wavy brown hair into a messy bun. She walked out of the bathroom and headed back into her room, she slid the mirror door of her closet over to grab some leggings and a long sleeve athletic shirt. She looked back to scan her whole room looking for her running shoes.

"Now where are my shoes?" She said walking around her room aimlessly.

"Okay, found the one by the nightstand but where's the other? I really need to go about a better system when I take them off. At least group them together Amelia."

She searched her whole bedroom finding pairs of shoes except for the one she needed. She was just about to give up when she saw under the empty water bottles by the full trashcan a black sole. Amelia moved the plastic around and sighed in relief as she finally found the long lost shoe. Her watch was then slid onto her wrist as she ripped it off the charger along with her earbuds. As long as she had those and her phone there was no problem in leaving the house.

The keys jingled as they were pulled from the wall as Amelia was walking out the door. She turned around on her heels as the door shut so she could lock it. She took the stairs as a form of warming up even though she was only going down them. She lived on the 7th floor so she didn't mind, it was better than the elevator. Amelia always tried to avoid the possibility of human interaction unless absolutely necessary. She didn't want to take the chance of possibly running into someone as it was already six.

Once on the street, the brisk air smacked her in the face and red was instantly displayed on her cheeks. She turned left and started with a light jog, her nose getting more pink with every step. She had hit her running playlist as she walked down the stairs of her building. She was a fan of Pitbull, heavily, and never knew a better way to start her run than with one of his songs. She usually ran for about an hour or two depending on her plans for the day.

She stays relatively near her apartment location as she's only really been in the area for 2 years. About halfway through her run she pauses, there's a few buildings piled on top of each other with a funky sign expressing what's inside the individual buildings. She only looks at the one directly in sight as it's the gym she goes to everyday, it's just not open yet.

"Huh, I wonder where Jim is, it's past 7 now. It's not like him to be late to opening his own building. I hope he's alright." Just as she finished her thought and was about to take off she heard a familiar voice behind her.

"Hey Amelia!" the man says as he walks closer towards the back of the girl.

Amelia turns on her heels as she lets out a breath. "Hey Jim! Your ears must be ringing, I was just thinking about you."

"I know I'm late, the little ones didn't want to get out of bed to go to school."

"Ah, the children."

"I'm serious, it takes a lot of effort with them at this age."

"Excuses excuses" Amelia's says as she smiles at the tall man.

"Well I better get back to my run, I probably have a ton of reports to do, the company has been flustered."

Amelia worked for a computer company, she did desk work and reports but she didn't mind because she never had to leave the house in order to do it. It was ideal for her as it paid the bills as well.

"Right right, the simple job" Jim said as he chuckled.

"You know it!" said Amelia as she started to run off.

Jim yelled as she started running, "I'll see you later though right? I still need my best worker".

Amelia chuckled lightly and yelled back, "I'm your only worker Jim".

The words caused a smile to form on the man's face as he turned to open the door of the gym with the keys in his hand.
