"(Y/n)... (Y/n). It's alright. Everything is alright."

Darkness surrounds me. Someone is calling my name. I follow the sound of her voice. A voice that begins to become clearer to me. The darkness gradually begins to light up.

"MOM?!"

My mother emerges from a mist of light. It's been so long since I've seen my mother. Is it really her?

"(Y/n). I've tried to talk to you, hug you, and help lead you for so long. Thanks to the changes made to the world, I have finally succeeded."

She gives me that familiar smile that only she can conjure as she steps closer to me, enveloping me in her arms. I can actually feel her! I can hear her! Uh, changes? Is she referring to the monsters and the weird occurances?

"Mom... Changes? What changes?"

"In all honesty, I don't completely understand it myself, but somehow you have become a spirit. Thus, it became far easier for me to communicate with you."

She smiles again. There's a glow about her that radiates an aura. She is so happy. What happened? Did I die? I'm a spirit? My lips pull down, a massive sense of guilt overtaking me.

"Mom... I'm so sorry! Sorry for everything! For avoiding you... For being a pathetic coward..."

"Honey, it's alright. I know you've been through a lot since my passing. Do not worry. I still love you just the same."

I sob into her arms for a while, not holding anything back.

"I love you so much."

"(Y/n), I'm so proud of you! It's alright that you don't want to be a soldier like your father. It's alright if you like men, I do too. Haha!"

I look at her and she wipes my tears as I calm down.

"Thank you mom. Thank you... for everything.

She smiles at me, the corner of her eyes easily wrinkling.

"Your songs. I heard them. They're incredible! You have such a lovely voice, dear. Is that what you want to do? Do you want to be a musician like I was? I'm so sorry I never took more time to properly teach you how to play the piano."

"No. It's okay. I'm not really all that into being a pianist. I don't actually know exactly what it is that I want, but I do know that it's not any of this."

She nods.

"I understand. There's no need to worry over it. You are still so young and have so many years ahead of you. I want to see you enjoy them however you please. I know you will. You have what it takes to overcome this season of life, though it may be difficult."

She smiles down at me and tightens her arms around me. I can't help but grin and tear up at those words. Words I didn't know that I desperately needed to hear. A wave of relief just courses through my whole body. Everything I've been holding onto, I let go. All the judgment, all the worry, all the fear. If there is a heaven, this must be it.

"So... How about that new friend you made? What do you think of him?"

"You mean Link? Um... He's a very talented swordsman. He's really caring and empathetic. What about it?"

She smiles at me expectantly. I sigh. I know what she's getting at.

"I don't know, mom. I still have to figure it out."
