I sat in the car as my body shook in fear — memories flooding my mind once again. The painful memories of the past. My body remembered every excruciating pain it had to endure.

Flashback

(A/N Bold is Jaerin and the other is her dad)

Ring

I let the phone ring without thinking too much about it. When I glanced at the screen it said DAD 🥸 so I picked up.

Hello?

Hello Jaerin

Silence

I need you to come to the office by 3pm today for a meeting

Why? We never have meetings

We need to talk about the inheritance of the company

Oh- okay then

You better be here early or last time will occur again

I gulped as my memories were still embedded in my mind.

Okay dad....

And the line was cut.

At first I didn't think too much of it because he was ageing and it is a intellectual idea to have a meeting ahead of time.

I got ready, wearing black wide leg trousers with a T-shirt and sweater vest on top, with my white airforce ones. I brushed out my hair, styling it in different ways until it appealed me.

Something seemed off about the unexpected call and meeting.

I reached the company, doors wide open for my entrance as people bowed to me out of respect. I sent a small smile to the workers as my stomach churned from anxiety. The lift stood at the far end of the hall, my eyes searched the hall for it. Once my eyes caught it, I speed walked over to it and pressed the button waiting for the lift doors to open.

I got inside and pressed the 5th floor. My father office was in the highest floor. As the door began to close a hand appeared, reopening the closing doors. My eyes followed the hand of the figure until it met with familiar eyes. The man shot me a smirk as his grin caused me discomfort. His grin was from one ear to the other, bigger than the oceans and land. I felt utter discomfort standing in the same lift as him but I didn't think too much of it.

Once the lift reached the 5th floor the doors slowly opened and lead me to my father's office. It had black tinted windows and shutters to prevent the people outside to see what's going on inside.

To be honest I don't really know what kind of company my father owns but I don't think too much of it because I hoped my father was a good man. I hoped that he had changed from the previous occasion.

I sat in my father's office as everyone's stares were consistently on me. Minutes had passed of us just casually sitting in the conference room of his office. My father still hadn't made it to the meeting due to another meeting that had overlapped.

40 minutes had passed and my father kept insisting that I would not inherit the company but my husband will. The company's workers wanted to disagree with his point yet my father was the CEO so there was nobody that had enough courage to stand up against him. My body sat slumped in the chair as tears threatened to fall.
