I slowly turned around. I winced at the pain on my left arm. I snuck a peek at my wound. Reddish and swollen, I felt my eyes tearing up.

I heard the slow creaking sound of my door causing my chest to tightened in a familiar way. Slow footsteps and fast breathing. A voice full of venom began whispering.

"I know you're awake, sweetheart. What did I tell you about staying up all night?"  I winced at the tone of his voice.

He yanked me out of the bed and began slapping and hitting me. He kicked me at my ribs and pounded my face with his fists. I screamed and shouted for help. .
