My mother would always tell me to never be "too kind". Of course, i never knew what that meant since i was so little. I had no clue that my act of kindness could get me banished from my village.

"Cammi it's time to wake up!" My mother yelled. I did not want to get up for the life of me. I wanted to lie in bed all day, but this week is harvesting week. We need to get all the fruits and vegetables from our village before winter comes.

"Cammi get up now or els i'm going to send the chickens in your room!" I heard my mom scream.

I finally decided to get up. I stood up from the cold floor that i was sleeping on, and waked on over to my dress and boots. I only have 3 dresses and one pair of old beat up boots. I put on my light blue long sleeved dress and headed out.

"There you are!" My mother said while picking up some carrots.

"Sorry, i am super tired." I explained as the sun was already beating down on my face.

"well we have a lot to get done today! The old man predicts that the first snow is going to be tomorrow!" My mother says with panic.

"You really believe anything that old man says?" A local villager said. "He speaks nonsense all the time. He always goes on and on about some god who controls everything living." The man continued while fixing his hat.

"you never know, it could be true." I said to him.

"I don't care if there is a god or not! Help me with these crops!" My mother shouted.

Today was going to be easy, we didn't have that much crops. We only had enough food for each family to have 1 meal a day.

"Cammi, can you go down to the lake with meelo?" A Woman asked me while i was picking up some radishes.

"Yeah of course i can. What do we need to go down there for?" I asked the woman.

"I need you guys to carry some vegetables down to the lake to wash them off. I am to weak to do it." The woman stated while running her back.

I put the 5 radishes that i harvested into a basket with some of the other vegetables.

"I will! Well be back soon as possible." I stated with a slight smile.

"Thank you cammi, i love how you are always able to help the elders in this village." The woman states while patting my head.

I walked over to meelo who was just sitting down reading a book. Meelo was always such a lazy kid, he never helped out during harvesting time and he would always make other people do his hard work. I never said anything to him though, i usually like to keep the piece.

"Meelo you ready to go." I asked politely.

"yeah, let me go get the basket." Mello says while putting down his book.

Mello walked over to one of the huts and grabbed the basket filled with fruits and veggies and then walked back over to me.

"This is a lot of food, we better make sure that none of them fall out of this basket." Mello states.

"I won't let them fall." I stated.

Of course i was the one carrying the basket of vegetables. Mello can never do anything.

We left our tiny village and headed off for the nearest lake. The lake was around 6 miles away, so we were going to be out for quite some time. It was not going to be a fun walk either. It was cold and windy outside and i was walking with an annoying brat who can never do anything for himself.

We have been walking for about 1 hour in silence until mello decided to speak to me.

"You better not drop the vegetables and fruit. We all know how clumsy you are." Mello said with a sarcastic tone.
