Sorry for the very slow update. I had writers block and it's not yet completly gone. And I apologize for the rather short chapter.

Elijah POV:

Ella had eaten two meals for my reassurance and I had learned a little more about her life before she had retired to sleep.

I was astonished to learn that it had been very difficult for Ella at the beginning to get used to the new times when movies on TV began to get used to before there had been something like streaming services, at least in her world. I honestly didn't know that movies in Germany were mostly broadcast at 20:15 and in the Netherlands it was 20:30. For Ella, it was a change at the beginning, which, as she honestly admitted, she still hadn't really got used to. I had never really thought about what habits people had and it showed me how different Ella and I lived. Especially for Ella, it had to be a change if she had to start again in a new country.

I still didn't know her decision. Whether she would go back to the States with me, or whether she wanted to stay here.

Even though the dark earth angel had not shown himself and was most likely no longer after Ella, the thought that it was not over did not want to let me go. I didn't have the gift of my companion, but something brewed and just waited to break free.

Flashback 3 months:

"You just want to give up? You don't want to find them and get answers to your questions? I really thought you weren't giving up so easily," Rebekah said, commenting on my decision to stop looking for Ella.

"She doesn't want to be found, and because Marcellus and Niklaus both don't want to tell me where Ella flew, I can't do more," I resisted, while the reality was different. I had hired various private investigators to find them, but all were unsuccessful so far.

After talking to Camille, doubts had swelled, did I do the right thing? Was it right to bring Ella back to my world? She would always have a target on her back, she would always be in danger because she was my companion.

The reality was that I couldn't just let her go like that, but she had decided to leave. Could I just undermine their decision to go to protect my family and Hope? Just ignore it?

Flashback end.

Later that night I heard Ella go to the bathroom, when she was back on the bed, I sit down with her, even though I hid well, i was worried about her, I couldn't resist the urge to make sure she was doing well.

"I'm not going to fall over right away," Ella commented, trying to make sure she was doing well, "I don't expect that either," I told her, to which she looked at me.

In the sparse light I could see her face clearly and also her disbelief, "I know I'm just a human being, but I'm going to survive the injury, it's not like I could die," she added, not knowing if the soul-eater, if he had hurt her more, couldn't have died.

I left Ella alone after she asked me not to treat her like a raw EI, she was fine and the only thing she needed now was sleep.

As Camille had advised me, I should give Ella time, not harass her and at some point she might trust me enough and some questions would then be answered.
