> F/B - Favourite Beverage/ Favourite Drink

I stared at the keyboard, the worn out keys had seen better days and were now soaked. How had I spilled F/B over it? What a lovely question. I had no idea, it all went by so fast, my eyelids were too heavy, and my eyes suffered when they met the bright computer screen. After a bit of squinting, I made out the tiny numbers in the right bottom corner, so it was four in the morning, that made sense.

A sigh left my lips as I forced myself up to hear a faraway thump and some high-pitched screams, well, that was certainly dramatic for my brain. Getting up wasn't that bad. Shaking my head, as if that could have made me feel less groggy, I strolled to the kitchen to get something to dry my keyboard with.

The screaming faded away as I grabbed a cloth and a large roll of paper. What a horrible night this had been, I couldn't wait to get some sleep.

The next morning I woke up rather early and saw my neighbour, Hiro, carrying a large rolled up carpet to his truck. I paid it no mind even if I considered it unusual, after all his darkish glow had given me the creeps whenever he came by to ask for stuff. Rie's chocolate shop was closed, and that was also out of the norm...

I reached Chiaroscuro with a sour mood, a chocolate would've made my morning much happier... My bookshop was empty, Aikito was laying on a nearby couch and jumped to his feet at my sight.

"Y/N, you're early today!" His tanned hands rose to pat his messy curly red hair.

"I had the shitiest night of sleep. You can go early home if you'd like. I can handle it from here." I sat on the counter and glimpsed at the vending machine... Rie's chocolate was better, but I could cave in and get myself a chocolate.

"I can stick by and keep you company." I smiled, Aikito was a nice boy. He part-timed in my beautiful bookshop/library to get some extra money for college.

The rising sun crossed my windows, bathing the white marble stairs to the second floor. The walls were covered by bookshelves, the spines shimmering and calling out new readers. A fairytale, the one castle I'd run through hours and hours of enjoyment at the tips of my fingers. It had been a good investment, even if the losses were way over the earnings.

When the workday was over, and I left Chiaroscuro with Aikito, the chocolate shop was still closed.

When the police announced Rie's death as they searched the neighbourhood, I wasn't surprised. Her shop had been closed for the last couple of days.

When they mentioned a carpet I looked at Hiro, he was a bit of a creep, but could he have done it? He seemed very shocked to be hearing the description of the whole incident. The policeman continued warning people not to leave their houses unlocked, not to walk at night...

My eyes followed my neighbour to his house after the group dispersed, his aura was still tainted... I had no proof, though...

I checked every door and window in my house, it was never bad to be careful, especially when there was a rapist/murderer on the run. After a snack, I went back to my computer, the inspiration wasn't coming.

I could already read the newspaper headlines, 'The famous writer Y/N has finally hit a writer's block.' No. This couldn't be it. I couldn't allow it to happen. 'The genius writer may not be as good as everyone thought.'

How could I live up to the title they had given me... I enjoyed it when they called me a genius, my ego surely grew with the great reviews and the insane amount of sales... I wanted to keep being Y/N, the genius writer, the one who could pull out any genre and have it sell millions and millions of copies.

Perhaps life in the suburbs of Aeclos was imprisoning my creativity... I liked working at the library though... My inner monologue was cut short by glass being shattered, I leapt off my chair and looked around. Panicking would do me no good.

What were the fucking odds of it being the murderer? Computer. Table. Pen. Clock. Table lamp. Bed. I had no weapons, I couldn't fight. My shaking fingers wrapped around the lamp as I yanked the cable off, it would have to do.

I took a deep breath, steps drew closer, I waited by the door to hit the criminal. A phone! I needed to call the police! Hades! How dumb could I be...?

When the intruder walked into my line of sight, my raised hands came down in a violent swing against his head. The table lamp broke, he cursed, and I just pushed him out of my way as I ran out of the room. My hands furiously patted my pockets as I escaped to the front door, cursing myself for having it locked as more curses and steps drew closer.

Please! Just open. I couldn't die here. Not like this. The door clicked open, I lost my footing and I landed on the pavement outside. I heard screams, my throat hurt, my beautiful eyes landed on Hiro, his face contorted with pleasure, and he was almost reaching my front door when I pushed myself up and just ran.

I couldn't find my phone, my creepy neighbour who was most certainly a murderer was chasing me down the street, and no one seemed to be noticing my screams. How late was it? I had to stop losing track of time.

My lungs burnt, tears started to stream down my face when I turned the corner to see my library, open 24/7. I slammed the door open as a hand pushed me back, my eyes widened in fear, but I heard myself yell. "LIN, CALL THE POLICE, RIGHT NOW!"
