"What did good old Norman Osborn do to warrant a supervillain drop in?"
My eyes widen as I hear the voice which has been engraved into my memory through years of idolization. I know that voice anywhere, and for the first time, I honestly didn't want to meet the speaker. This isn't quite how I visioned meeting my role model but hey, beggars can't be choosers. I cuss under my breath, momentarily ignoring the speaker.
"Don't think for one second this is over." The high-pitched sound of a repulser charging grabs my attention, causing my muscles to stiffen.
"You know, it's rude to ignore people. Let's try this again shall we?" His suit landed on the floor with a heavy thud, shaking me slightly. I heard him take a few steps forward before speaking again. His very tone puts me on edge. "Put him down and step away."
Well, this isn't how I thought this would go. I'm pretty much cornered, but it doesn't sound like he has backup, so maybe if I get lucky? When I failed to do as he ordered, he took that as a sign of defiance, firing his repulser a few inches away from my head. I keep my eye fixated on Norman, determined not to show fear. I smirk slightly as Norman flinches hard at the sight of the steaming wall, and the indent which showed the power behind Iron Man's attacks.
I loosen my grip, and reluctantly drop Norman to the floor, as he used the opportunity to flee his office. My eyes followed him in outrage at the way he scrambled to get out. All though I might have also been pissed at Ironman for arriving.
"Put your hands up and turn around, slowly." He commanded, followed by the sound of a repulser charging. I cussed softly to myself, mind searching for a way out. I put my hands in the air, sheathing my claws but keeping my fangs, but I'm not sure what good they'd do against the metal of his suit. My eyes met the floor as I slowly turned around. I felt my heart race faster as an adrenaline high kicked in, my head feeling heavy as I heard him step closer and bring out meta-canceling handcuffs.
Before I had time to think, my body moved and hit his hand away, which in hindsight wasn't too smart. I grabbed his hand and pulled the palm to the floor. I heard him faintly cuss as he brought his other hand up to shoot my chest. I quickly used my other hand to move it to the left as it fired. I put power into my legs as I reared up and kicked him in his chest sending him stumbling back. I turned on my heel and ran through yet another window in an attempt to escape. Man, I've got to stop jumping through windows. Did you know there's a word for throwing someone out a window? Defenestration is a masterpiece of a word. But that's off-topic.
The wind rushed past my face as I quickly shifted wings into place which is a lot scarier when you're falling from the top floor. It takes me a second to even myself out as I begin to create distance. The chances of me winning in a fight against him are slim to none, so my best bet is running away. Just as I released a sigh, hoping I got away, my ears picked up the faint sound of thrusters behind me. Well, crap.
"That wasn't a smart idea, bird lady." The tin can echos through the sky as I attempt to lose him. Also out of all the names, he could've picked, he chose bird lady? He's losing his touch.
"Yeah, I don't tend to have a lot of those." I sarcastically yell back. I took the opportunity to pull my wings close to my body and weave between the alleyways. All I needed was a split second where he was distracted, a split second I could use to getaway. Behind me, I heard a collision as he seemingly ran into a building because of the sharp turn. I chuckled softly to myself and flew down a thinner ally, shifting my wings away as I roughly landed.
