I stood in a vast clearing, surrounded by towering pine trees of various forms. It must have been somewhere close to the coast, because I could hear the sound of waves crashing against the shore in the distance. The sky was flooded with looming clouds, ranging in varying shades of white to a deep, dark grey.

Where am I?

I began to walk further toward the heart of the clearing, looking around for any sign of life. My gaze traveled to my left, seeing nothing but an endless abyss of forested land. I began to turn toward the side of the clearing that was to my right, when something caught the corner of my eye. My head snapped to it in an instant, facing directly in front of where I was currently standing, at the other end of the clearing.

My eyes narrowed as I tried to make out what exactly the mysterious figure was that I had seen. Much to my surprise, it appeared to be a girl. It looked as though she were sitting on her heels with her knees bent below her.

Who is she?

She hadn't seemed to notice me yet; she was just sitting there, staring at her hands.

I began to approach her, walking quickly in an attempt to close the gap between us. I don't know what it was, but it was almost as if I was being drawn to her. As I grew closer, I quickly realized that she was naked, her pale skin gleaming in the light that peeked through the clouds above. That wasn't all though - her body appeared to be covered in blood, the crimson liquid streaking what I could see to be her left arm and abdomen.

I grew closer and closer to her silhouette, feeling the increasing urge that I needed to reach her side. I was around twenty feet away from her when I was stopped dead in my tracks.

She raised her head, meeting my gaze and staring into my eyes.

I was taken aback - she had the most heavenly face I had ever seen. Her eyes glimmered a riveting shade of cerulean, and Gods, she had the most perfect lips painted in a blushing shade of pink.

I was so caught up in her beauty that I had almost missed the two discernible streaks of blood that marred her flesh. One sat upon the bridge of her nose, while the other was rooted in the furrow of her left brow.

My eyes met hers once again and I instinctively reached toward her, closing the remaining gap that laid between us. The closer I got to her, the heavier my heart grew; it was as if I was a part of her, experiencing whatever atrocities had been committed to her all at once. An impending feeling of sorrow and wistfulness began to accompany the heaviness in my heart, growing deep within the pit of my stomach, making me sick.

I didn't know who this stranger was, but I could feel it. She needed me. Not only did it feel like she needed me, but it was slowly beginning to feel as though I also needed her. There was something about her - something stirring within me that seemed desperately like it was trying to tell me something.

I was within five feet of her now, overwhelming waves of emotions seeping through to my core with every step that I took toward her. She opened her mouth to speak, but her unknown voice was soon overshadowed by a familiar one.

    "Ren, wake up!!!"

-

I bolted upright in my bed, opening my eyes and looking around my room frantically. I closed my eyes, rubbing them to clear the haze of my sleep away. When I reopened them, I saw my familiar Milo, sitting at the end of the bed and giving me a curious look.

"Milo, what the hell? Why'd you have to wake me up like that?" I groaned, shifting my
eyes to the clock sitting on my nightstand.

It read 12:36 PM.
