The clock was ticking and my arms were folded in front of my chest as I watched the others quietly.
Niklaus was pacing with a mad look in his eyes while Elijah sat next to me. Rebekah leaned against the wall and observed the scene with an raised eyebrow. "I can't believe that he actually took her." Niklaus exclaimed between gritted teeth. "Nik, we will find him and Davina." I whispered and got up.
I tried to block him but he didn't stop pacing so I let go of him and poured myself a drink. "Okay, this is pointless." Rebekah exclaimed with a deep sigh. Niklaus shot her a look but I had to agree. "We need to split and get hold of Marcel." I said and grabbed a map from the shelf. "Where can they be?" Elijah asked as we all leaned over the map. "You'll check the Frenchquarter, Rebekah and I'll go through the rest of the town." Niklaus commanded. "And I will go and look around the docs." I mumbled and downed my drink. "You really think he'll listen to you now?" Rebekah asked and looked at me.
"I don't know but we have to try." She smiled and nodded before we all rushed into different directions.

I wandered through the dark containers and concentrated on my surroundings. No sound; Just the rain that hit the steel containers and the wind lashing through the empty streets. My phone buzzed and I looked down on the screen. 'No sight of them. -Nik.' I was losing hope and the time was still ticking. In 1 hour the flames would eat New Orleans up and we'd lose what we were fighting for. A whimper, so quite that I almost overheard it, made me stop. Davina. My senses were heightened again and I walked towards one of the containers. A small light hit the dark sea in front of me and I stepped inside. Davina layed on a small mattress and sweat covered her forehead while her lips were pale. "Davina?" I asked and looked at her. The gleam in her eyes was gone when she raised her head slightly but fell back down right away. "Davina." Within seconds I was by her side. Her head was hot and she shivered when my cool skin met hers. "What's happening to me?" She whispered. "The harvest." Her eyes widened. "You're not supposed to have all this magic." I tried to explain but she shrunk back. "Davina, look at me." I whispered and dropped down beside her and placed a wet cloth on her forehead. She looked at me and the fear in her eyes was still present.
"When you caught the magic from the other girls you weren't supposed to keep it. The earth, you coughed. The wind that blew through the streets and the rain that will wash everything away; This is all you." I dipped the cloth into some fresh water. "And now you're fever- There will be fire consuming this town." She shook her head slowly. "Your town, Davina." Her eyes were wide and her lip was trembling. "I will die.. Like Monique and all the others." Tears were rolling down her cheeks. "No," I caressed her cheek. "Sophie promised me that she will complete the harvest like the elders were supposed to." "And why should we trust the witches?" Marcel's voice rang out from behind me and I spun around. He was leaning against the doorframe and had a smug look on his face. "Marcel." I whispered and approached him slowly. "We should talk outside." I mumbled but he just shook his head. "I want to hear this." Davina protested from behind us. I breathed in slowly before I turned around again to face her. "If she succeeds with the harvest Monique will return. Why would she lie to us?!" I asked and looked at them. "She's right." Davina said when she saw the sorrow lines on his face. "No she's not." Marcel whispered between gritted teeth. "She's manipulating you." He hissed and looked at me. "You're wrong, Marcellus. We all want this town to remain our home. This is your home, Davina's and now mine as well. I would never lie to her. I would never let her die just like that. Believe me. Please. This is all we can do. She needs to complete the harvest or she will die anyway." I said simply before I left the container again. When I was some steps away I stopped and waited. I couldn't hear what they were saying because I knew they needed privacy. Some minutes later I saw Marcel walking down the pier with Davina in his arms. Flames appeared behind them. "It's time." I whispered when he was next to me.

We waited in the cemetery. The rain had stopped and from far away I saw flames alighted the night sky. We all were tense when someone walked around the corner. "Oh my-" Rebekah gasped.
Marcel had Davina in his arms while Penelope walked by his side. Flames followed close behind.
The dead girls laid on a flag surrounded by candles and Sophie looked at them. "Lay her down." She mumbled avoiding his eyes. He placed the girl in between her dead friends and I had to swallow. The pain in Penelope's eyes was making me shiver. I met her eyes and she rushed to my side were I pulled her into my embrace. "She's dying." I shook my head and kissed her forehead. "She will be alright." From the corner of my eyes I saw Marcel standing next to us his eyes glued to Davina. Sophie had kneeled down before her. "Davina, do you believe in the harvest?" Her voice was shaking but not as much as Davina's. "..." She took a deep breath and her eyes full of fear met Marcel's. "I do." She said finally and another wave of tears made Penelope tremble in my arms. I kissed her forehead once more but the tears wouldn't stop. The witch raised her left hand and the moonlight hit the blade of the knife. "Good." She said before the sound of metal ripping through skin and the blood flowing out of Davina's body hit all our ears. I looked away as well as the others and Penelope shook her head as she tried to get away from the sound of Davina dying. Sophie stood up again and began the ritual as my eyes wandered over to Elijah. He clearly ignored Hayley as she used his trust. I knew how much he'd cared about Celeste but she was dead, right? Nothing to care about. Penelope held her breath as Sophie spoke the last words of the spell. We all held our breaths. I looked at the girls. Non of them moved. Non of them opened their eyes. No heart was starting to beat again. Panic filled Sophie's eyes while mine only held anger. She tried it again and again and again. Nothing happened. Penelope began to cry and I had to flinch as I saw Marcel rush into the night and Hayley turning her head away from the scene. "WHY IS IT NOT WORKING?" Sophie exclaimed helpless and looked into the sky. "PLEASE!" She begged but no one seemed to care up there. An uneasy look appeared on my brothers face before he walked of with Rebekah and Hayley. Penelope couldn't move. She was crying and I knew that this was the pain of many months breaking out of her. I carried her away from the cemetery and some meters before our mansion I stopped. "Love, please." She'd stopped crying some minutes ago and just looked into the night sky since. "What shall we do?" Her voice was weak when she looked at me. I raised an eyebrow. "With Marcel. He will be broken." I looked at her as my heart ached. "I don't know." I said and placed her back onto her feed. "Maybe time will heal his wounds." She did not look overly convinced. "Or he will just snap." She said as we walked onto the patio. Elijah stood there already waiting for us.
"Penelope." He looked at her and for the third time since she came to New Orleans I saw something in them that I did not want to see. "How are you?" "I am better." She smiled and took my hand so I decided to brush it off. "Something is bothering you, brother." I stated and looked at him. "I saw it the second the spell did not work." He looked at me and nodded slowly. "Why did it not work?" He asked simply and I shrugged. "Maybe the harvest is after all just a lie." Elijah shook his head. "No, it's something with mother's bones. There were full with magic. Were did all the magic go that Sophie did not got access to?" He asked and I couldn't help but feel slight concern.
"We will figure that out.. but not now." I said and started walking upstairs with Penelope by my side.
"Goodnight." Elijah said before we closed the door behind us.
