For this Mother's day, I would like to share with all of you a story of one of the most amazing mothers I have ever met, Jothi.

Jothi grew up in an upper-middle-class family and studied really well. However, she was not able to finish her education and was married off young. She accepted the new role and with her husband, she had three strong boys.

Unfortunately, she started to face many troubles in life after that. While she was pregnant with her fourth son, Jothi was injured by a bull and ended up miscarrying. Shortly afterward, her husband had left Jothi and her three sons for her younger sister. Though the betrayal of her husband broke her heart, she gathered her courage and started to earn for her family.

Each day, Jothi would work day and night to provide for her sons. She would even let herself starve to make sure her sons were well fed. Jothi started holding small tuition centers to encourage all kids to be educated. No matter her situation, Jothi worked hard to educate all three sons. For a woman who only grew up in comfort, Jothi pushed herself to the limits just for her sons.

All her hard work became fruitful. Two of her sons ended up computer engineers in the US while her other son became a teacher. Even then, she did not stop. Jothi went out of the way to help her grandchildren as much as she could. There had even been moments where her grandchildren didn't treat her with respect. But instead of getting mad, Jothi bore it all and showed her love. She became a close friend with each one of them.

Although her sister and husband had betrayed her, Jothi still accepted their son as part of her family. She was the first one to come for her family's defense, and the first one to accept all their burdens. Till the end of her life, she put her family first.

I will forever miss Jothi, but I know you are still with us. Thank you so much for being in my life. I know there are times when I have judged you wrongly, and for that, I am truly sorry. Life gave you many problems, but you still faced them so strongly. I don't know if I will ever be like you.

While Jothi was with me, I never truly understood her significance. But now the light is gone from my life. Like Jothi, many mothers around us lighten up our life. Please at least spend this Mother's Day to appreciate them.

Happy Mother's Day to all.
