An Emotional Connection

The depths of the water

Luz stood in shock before her body started moving on its own. "You, take the wheel!" She shouted at a random crew member as she ran to the edge of the boat and ripped off her coat and hat, along with her sword scabbard. "Keep us circling the Dutchman and keep firing on it, I'll be back soon."

She stared at the spot where Amity went under before she breathes in hard and dove off the side of the Pearl. She was only falling for about a second before she pierced the cold water. She didn't have time to register the cold as she started to swim after her sinking friend, to her surprise Amity was concious and was swimming up to meet her.

Amity was able to move much easier in the water than Luz was and luz noticed why right away, a film had appears that was connecting amitys fingers, giving her paddles to easier swim through the water. There was also a cloud of bubbles surrounding her neck, when luz reached out to wave them away she found three slits on the side of her neck, like gills.

Luz felt a burning in her chest as her cheeks puffed up with old air, amity felt her distress and used her hands to ask about how she could help. Luz frantically pointed to her chest and than her mouth to convey she was running out of air. Luckily for her Amity seemed to recognize the symptoms from her swimming class, She cupped Luz's face and pulled herself closer, luz noticed the flaps on her neck separate as they pulled in air, and than Amity did something unexpected, she pushed her mouth into Luz's and breathed fresh air into her lungs, the burning in her chest subsided.

A new burning grew in her chest, centered over her heart instead of her lungs, she could feel her face redden even in the frigid water. 'we need to talk and I can't breath on my own, how am I gonna be able to tell this to amity' to her surprise Amity somehow seemed to hear her and separated the kiss much to Luz's dismay, and made a clicking sound in her throat as her ears twitched, she got a satisfied look on her face before grabbing Luz's hand and pulling her deeper down.

About 20 more feet down Amity pulled her into a cave, her lungs were burning and tight before she was about to open her mouth and breath in she surfaced into a decently sized air pocket cave interior. She flopped onto the ground of the air pocket and breathed in the cool air, somehow it was fresh. Amity began to pull herself out of the water and Luz watched the webbing on her hands recede and the gills on her neck meld back into smooth skin.

"H-how can y-you do that by the way?" She asked as she shivered from the cold, although the moss covering the ground and sides of the pocket was surprisingly warm.

"Witches were born of the titan and of magic, we are highly adaptable, we can survive in almost any environment, in high heat like a volcanic area our skin becomes blackish grey and rocky and our eyes turn black with glowing eyes, like an elemental, in fact your yeti was just a witch in extreme cold."

Luz felt herself blush thinking of Amity as a fire elemental as she described, with magma like hair spooling over her shoulders and glowing red in the cracks of her rock like skin. For some reason. She quite wanted to see that form but instead chased the image from her mind. "I've started to notice a pattern with how we beat each level, for the first one we kissed, for the second you had to open up about your past, so it seems we always reveal or do something.... friendlier... Than usual."

"what do you mean by that Luz?" Amity asks as Luz shifts the way she was sitting as she stared down at her fingers. "I mean....well the whole point of this seems to be trying to bring us closer together, and well... I've begun to notice certain feelings crop up over our time here."

"What do you mean by certain feelings?" Amity asked as she started to focus on the emotions she was getting from Luz. Said girl looked like she was trying to swallow an entire bottle of apple blood.  "Well... Alright I'm just gonna say it, this escape room thing has made me realize that I like you, like I like like you, and I've know noticed I knew since you helped me come out if that nightmare spell when I was in the bathroom."

"You-you like me?" Amity asked to double check, she couldn't believe what she was hearing, her crush actually liked her back. Luz breathed in before she continued her confession.

"Yes Amity, I like you alot, It started after Grom, when you stood up for me. No one from my home would have stood up, or protected me like that."

Luz continued her confession but all Amity could focus on was the emotions she was feeling from Luz, she could feel her crush was being truthful, she could feel the embarrassment she was feeling from telling her feelings to Amity.

"-And I don't know if you feel the same but I-" Luz was cut off as Amity decided to be upfront fro once in her life, she slammed her lips into luz and wrapped her arms around the Brunets neck and leaned into her.

A surprised squeal died in Luz's throat as she melted into the kiss. This emotional bond was the best thing to happen to both of them along with this infuriating box, otherwise they never would have confessed their feelings. The echos of cannon fire in the water counted the seconds before the two broke apart.

"Luz, I like like you!" Amity said quickly as she blushed like a tomato. She heard Luz exhale a sigh of relief as the two had finally confessed their feelings to one another. To their left lightning crackled as a yellow and blue portal ripped open next to them. Silently, as if by telepathy, the two stood up and held hands as they walked up to it. The two looked at each other and Luz being herself pecked Amity on the cheek before pulling the flustered witch through the portal.

They didn't know what was waiting for them on the other side back in the Boiling Isles but they knew that as long as they had each other they could handle anything.
