After reading the letters, Marinette had entered a state of depression. She cried all Saturday night, mumbling how much of a horrible person she was. When Sunday morning came, she barely talked. Alya could swear she hadn't seen a smile at all, and Chloe was sure Marinette had not eaten or drunk anything at all. She had seen Marientte fake it. They were worried and therefore refused to leave her side.
When Sunday night arrived, the girls finally got Marinette to talk. They asked her if she would try and speak to Adrien the next day, to which she responded a sad "I can't," leaving both girls confused. Seeing their confusion, she added softly. "I hurt him. I caused all this pain and turned him into the depressed person he is now. The guy who fights and skips school, I did that I made him that way. I broke his heart not just once but twice. I don't deserve him."
If Chloe and Alya were confused before, now they were really unhinged. 'Twice? What is she talking about?' they thought. The room remained silent until Chloe decided to voice her thoughts. "Twice?" she asked. Noticing her mistake, Marinette attempted to fix it. "I mean many times. Each letter was yet another proof of his heartbreaking over and over again. He will never forgive me." She said, feeling both sad and nervous. But that panged her heart as well since she believed it to be the truth.
"Marinette, he loves you. Can't you see that? The messages he still sends are proof of that. He is waiting for your forgiveness. He has already forgiven you. He doesn't want an apology. Adrien wants you!" Alya spoke, a little upset at her best friend's thoughts. "WELL, I CAN'T FORGIVE MYSELF, OKAY!" Marinette suddenly yelled back as she broke into a sob.
Alya flinched at her friend's reaction. She knew Marinette blamed herself, but this was too much. Alya's eyes met Chloe's as if asking for help which Chloe graciously provided. "Now, you listen to me, Dupain Cheng. You and I both know that that is just an excuse because you are scared to admit that you messed up. But guess what Adrien doesn't care that you messed up because he knows he has messed up as well and for years. He knows he hurt you, and he understands why you did what you did.
"Marinette, he loves you, and he is willing to do anything to be by your side again. I know because I talked to him. Mari, girl, there is nothing to forgive, we all make mistakes, trust me, I know I have been the class bitch forever, but the important thing is that we learn from them. I would not be here if I believed you weren't good enough to be my Adrikins girlfriend. He doesn't want your apologies, he wants your time, and most importantly, he wants your love. So don't think so much, don't even speak, just go over to him and kiss him. Everything he needs to know, everything you want to say, will be said with just a kiss. Show him you love him." Chloe spoke.
Alya was dumbfounded 'damn, she is good,' she thought to herself. Marinette gave her a sad smile and pulled her into a hug. "Okay, I will but just not tomorrow. I have to figure out how to do it first. We all know I don't have the guts to go and kiss him," Marinette stated more happily, causing both girls to laugh. "True, she would probably faint before even kissing him," Alya stated. After a few minutes of laughter, they calmed down before Chloe spoke again, "Okay, but you can't wait past this week, okay? You have waited long enough." Marinette nodded understandingly. Chloe had spoken the truth, she had waited long enough, and now it was time for action.
Monday morning finally came. All three girls woke up early and ate breakfast before walking happily to school. "Do you think he will show up today? No one has heard of him in a week," Marinette asked worriedly. Chloe smirked, remembering the secret group messages during the weekend. "Oh, trust me, he will be here," she responded, not attempting to hide the smirk on her face. Marinette gulped, not sure if she was ready to see him. She knew she wouldn't be able to speak, but Marinette also did not have the guts to kiss him, so what in the world was she going to do? Now more than ever, she is sure she should wait for tomorrow.
