It was pretty late when Kihyun got home from work. He switched the lights on in the apartment as he walked through the door. He had expected it to be dark and quiet when he got home, but he couldn't help feeling slightly disappointed that it was. Kihyun had got the text from Shownu saying he and his team were going out to celebrate, so he would be home late. Kihyun normally appreciated any alone time, so he could clean without interruption, and catch up on his reading without feeling like he was neglecting Shownu. This wasn't a normal night though, because the silence in the apartment only made the thoughts he had repressed all day resurface.
Kihyun stood in the entranceway trying to stop his thoughts from overwhelming him. He sighed heavily as he took his shoes off. The silence oppressing him enough for him to walk straight over to the Bluetooth speaker and start a playlist, any playlist as long as he didn't have to think anymore today.
Kihyun made his way to the laundry to pull last night's wash out of the dryer to fold it. He quickly made a list of things he had to clean as he pulled the clothes into a laundry basket. He barely heard the music playing anymore with all the thoughts swirling around in his head.
He settled down on the couch to start folding, and Hyungwon's disappointed face surfaced in his mind. He had hated admitting to Hyungwon how much Minhyuk still affected him. Hyungwon was right about all of the horrible things Minhyuk had done. Minhyuk would dissappear for days to weeks around some of Kihyun's important events and come back as if he didn't just leave Kihyun without any support. He would get furious if Kihyun went anywhere, including work, without explaning exactly where he was going, who he would be with and expecting calls or texts constantly.
Kihyun sighed heavily again as he looked at the bottom of the now empty basket. He placed the newly folded clothes back in the basket and made his way to the bedroom to put them away properly.
Shownu's scent enveloped him as he entered the bedroom. Kihyun was pulled back into a memory of when Shownu had encouraged him to reach for his dream job. Shownu had been so very supportive. Kihyun had cried from the stress of waiting to hear back, and Shownu had wordlessly pulled him into his strong, comforting arms. Kihyun fell asleep crying and Shownu had carried him to bed. The next morning he had woken up to breakfast in bed and Shownu calling off work.
Kihyun's fingers drummed on the top of the dresser as he tried to think of something else to occupy his free time. He needed to be doing something, anything, to keep himself calm. He looked around the bedroom, seeing things he wanted to clean up. He finally gave in to allowing the thoughts he had been trying to push into the back of his mind all day as he started a cleaning spree through the house.
Shownu wasn't always a calm, understanding, amazing fiance. The two of them had their share of fights and Shownu could be hot-headed when he was angry. Kihyun remembered one fight in particular that almost destroyed their fledgling romance. It had started over Shownu leaving a toothbrush on Kihyun's apartment sink, but struck on a fear of escalating their relationship to the next level. Kihyun had lashed out, turning that fear into anger, denying the telltale sign of Shownu starting the process of wanting to move in. Shownu's anger that night had been such a stark contrast to the normally understanding, patient side Hyungwon had pointed out at lunch. Looking back at their fights and dark moments, Kihyun knew now they only had made his and Shownu's bond stronger and led to Kihyun feeling safe and loved enough to allow his walls to crumble. Shownu just wanted to be the one to bring Kihyun happiness.

It was the sixth weekend Shownu and Kihyun had spent together. He and Shownu went on a walk down by the river and had a picnic dinner as the sun set on Friday. The rest of the weekend they spent in Kihyun's apartment, not leaving until they had to go to work Monday morning. It was the best end to a stressful week and one of his top five favorite dates of all time. He was so happily content going to bed Monday night after work.
Kihyun smiled coyly at his reflection, at the thought of what they had gotten up to during the part of the weekend they spent inside. Everything felt so new, amazing, and exciting.
