I remember sitting in a British airways plane at OR Tambo South Africa just waiting to take off to my fresh start away from all the pain and grief . Honestly I was tired of everything and as much as I loved my family and friends I needed some time away. Here I come Italy I thought to myself .
(Present day )
I woke up to a loud banging noise and already knew who was at the door . Cussing I opened the door to see Xander my best friend standing there , who visits someone at 3am in the morning ?
Well long story short , I met Alexander Hamilton ( nickname Xander ) at the coffee shop I work at. I thought he was super hot until I found out he was gay. Lmao how embarrassed I was when he asked me to stop flirting with him because he was also into man. After that he came around more often and we became close friends. Being black in a country like Italy was hard but having a famous friend helped. Xander came from a rich family and being an only child had it's perks.
The sound of laughter brings me back from my train of thoughts , looking up I freeze seeing Mia my roommate with hair looking like a birds nest .I look at Xander and we burst out laughing wiping my teary eyes I look up to see Mia pouting with sad eyes . We walk up to her and give her a hug she glady accepts . My friends made me whole and I loved them a lot we talked for a little while until Xander fell asleep on my lap and Mia next to me.
Looking at both of them got me thinking about how crazy my life was.
Not so long ago I was stuck in Africa with dreams bigger than my family home and now here I was happy and healthy with my friends . Don't get me wrong I missed my family a lot but the distance made my relationship with them stronger. I was studying Medicine and I also worked at the bakery , Ohhh God I loved baking . I made enough money to help with my bills and also send some money back home to my family .
Life was hard but I guess you just had to learn to be strong .
As sleep sneaked up on all I wished for was finally finding love , true love .
