I looked up at the stone ceiling, contemplating all the decisions in my life, thinking about the meaning of life, and the reason for my existence.

Exasperated I let out a sign as I flipped over to the other side of the cold bed, wanting the intrusive thoughts to be gone. I sank deeper into the bed as if wanting to be swallowed by the cheap material given to the scouts.

I hear footsteps near the door as I shuffled around the bed trying to get comfortable and I stopped abruptly, thinking that it was Captain Levi patrolling around.

The footsteps stopped as the door creaked open, a figure tiptoed in, pretending to asleep I snuggled closer to the pillow trying to calm my breaths. At the head of my bunk they stopped.

"Hey, I know your still awake, get up." The male voice whispered. Not wanting to give in easily I just rolled to the other side of the bunk as I realized who had "awoken" me in the dead of night, or morning, whichever it was.

I sat up as they just stayed, ignoring my antics to ignore him.

"You have the wrong bunk, Mikasa is the one on the left," I said staring at the faint light coming from the open slit in the door, illuminating a partial bit of his face, his green eye flashing.

"I'm pretty sure I got the right one," he said flashing me a smirk."Now get up we don't have much time."

"Fine, get out I have to change," I shooed him out with my hands as I tried not to wake Mikasa, finding the clothes I needed. I tidied up my hair and most importantly, rinsing my mouth with some mouthwash.

Finishing putting on my clothes I found him leaning on the stone wall, arms crossed, hair tied into a bun, with a smile on his face.

"Let's go," he grabbed my arm and we ran quietly through the halls of sleeping scouts, through the faint candlelight lighting the halls, footsteps muffled by the snores.

To wherever we were going, I followed as he guided me to a flight of stairs, which we climbed up swiftly. Finally to our destination we stopped as he grabbed a set of keys which I eyed, not taking him for a good pickpocket.

"I let Hange try to braid the hair of my titan." He shuddered at the memory, " If you are wondering how I got these keys."

He opened the door, leading to the dark balcony, but not to dark, making me realise that it was almost morning.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him, looking around.

"Well," he said as he took a cloth to spread on the floor, and sat down, patting the spot next to him signalling me to sit down, " I have a surprise for you."

He took out a watch, which I also didn't know that he owned, looking at the time he said,

"And that surprise should be here in about 5 minutes."

"I'm starting to think, you mistook me for Mikasa..." I stated, laughing at the look of confusion on his face.

"Nope I'm pretty sure I got the right person." He looked at me while I stared at the darkened sky arms wrapped around my body, chilly air making goosebumps run up my flesh.

"Are you cold?" He asked, as I just tighten the hold on my arms.

"Nope," I lied while shivering.

"Okay then," he looked away as I mentally cursed him.

"Fine, fine I'm cold," I gave in and saw face break out into a grin, " do you have anything warm,"

"Well, I have this," He rustled in his bag as if looking for something, and turned around quickly smothering me in a bear hug.

"This is the ultimate heating bag," he smiled as shock lit up my face and my ears turned bright red, not because of the cold.

He wrapped his arms around me and we sat, until he excitedly pointed at the sky, the darkness breaking into golden light.

The sun lit up the sky, its rays extended its arms, passing over the trees and sky, seeping through the night like water.

We stayed in the spot for a while, watching the sunrise, orange flickers of light, white clouds now visible, and darkness turning into blue hues.

I turned around as he watched the sunset, instead watching his face, his strong features, sharp green eyes, and the little hairs framing his face from his loose bun, admiring everything.

I turned back to the sunset as he said,

"Beautiful isn't it?"

I looked at his wistful expression and said, " Yes the sky is beautiful today."

He looked at me and stated, "That wasn't what I was looking at," extending his arms as if to welcome me he said.

"It has always been you."

Bonus Part:

"Hey! stop moving," I giggled as I took his hair out of its normal bun. "Let me try something."

He nodded as you raked your fingers through, and gathered up the strands, letting them slip through your fingers.

My god, I thought, his hair is so soft. I twisted and pulled, not a hint of complaint came from him as I pulled hair to complete a final hairstyle.

"There!" I said, as I finished braiding his hair.

"Does it look okay?" He looked at me with those, by god, beautiful eyes that could let me get lost in them.

I nodded, " You are beautiful." and it was one of the truest things I have said.

He blushed, and turned away to the streaks of light in the sky, sitting in the comfortable silence, words hanging in the air, as we both came to enjoy the joys of life.

A/N:

This chapter was also a more personal one.

If you want to see more moments like this one, let me know.

I like the idea of having a moment of peace and quiet to maybe just block out the things that you need to block out until you are ready to face it again.

Life can be hard sometimes, it's easy to just see the bad sides, but you have to see the joys of life as well, whether they come later in life or earlier.
