Before the creation of everything, there was darkness; complete and utter darkness.
The silence deafening, like the scream of a thousand sorrows. An endless void of isolation spiraling into a scape of nothingness. If you looked at it from an outside perspective, you never would have guessed what it would, eventually, become.
How could this hopeless wreck become anything?
People seem to have a strange view on what exactly is deemed as "hopeless". They take everything for an insignificant grain of salt, with no unique properties to it, without even giving a second glance.
...My apologies, I'm sure you could care less for my philosophies, let's get back on track to the story.Seemingly out of nowhere, something sparked from the nothingness. It had as much significance as a dust particle in a haystack. Over time, it grew, and grew, and grew.
Until one day, it finished, leaving behind the blank canvas of what would be our universe. Little did anyone know, this wasn't the only universe being unwrapped, however, let's not get ahead of ourselves, I'll get onto that later. Then, predictably, the paint, formally known as the solar system, made its mark on the canvas.
But this wasn't all that formed.
Within mere days of our universe's creation, powerful beings emerged to watch over the universe. Among humans, they would be classified as Gods, some good, some bad, and some tip-toeing on the fine line of both. Sadly for us, they don't always get along, disagreeing on various ethics, some abusing their powers, quite like us in nature. They all had their own worlds-technically classified as dimensions-they inhabited and if they were lucky enough; owned.
The lower-ranking Gods were known as "Messengers" whose sole purpose was to hide amongst the world's citizens and report back. In other words; they were glorified slaves. As time went on, they seemingly disappeared from earth and began simply working as servants to the Gods.
The middle rankers: "Demigods". These beings were powerful, possessing uncanny abilities that kept the world spinning...metaphorically.
These were the type of Gods that more commonly owned their own dimensions that acted as "Purgatories"; where humans were spiritually transported after death. To this day, the Demigods watch over these dimensions. Each Purgatory has its own theme, catered to fit the aesthetic of its Ruler. Some beings are "Upper Demigods", who are just below the rankings of our next category. And finally, you have the last category: "Overlords", the highest of the highest beings. The Overlords watch over our world, so dearly protecting us with their lives...
...you thought I was being serious? Ha!
The Overlords are the ones who have it easiest; I've seen sloths do more work than them. They lounge in their dimensions, watching over the Messengers and the Demigods working the skin off their backs, while they put their feet up, sip wine and relax.
Not only this, but then they have the absolute nerves to take all credit they didn't even lift a pinky for.Naturally, this lead to a vast amount of conflict between the Gods, a collective hatred for one another divides them. Can you see how awkward this can make things when they are expected to cooperatively work together?
At this point, our dimension, our solar system, and our Gods have been created.
Now all they needed was some entertainment; mankind are the comedians.
Man's history since then has been recorded in millions of ways since the dawn of their existence; what they fail to mention were the entities living alongside us. What, you genuinely thought the legend of "The Wendigo" or "Black-eyed Children" were the work of human imagination and myth? Please, you humor me.
Alongside humans, lived the "Supernatural". Even though they live among humans- either in secret or within a community- they aren't to be confused with Messengers, as most of them have no direct link to the Gods. What is a Supernatural? Well, that's like me asking you to define what is "Human". Yes, I'm more than aware of the scientific Homosapien definition, but what truly makes someone "Human"? The textbook definition for Supernatural is: "An individual with an uncanny ability that has no scientific explanation" or simply "the unexplainable". For centuries, they lived peacefully, never making themselves known, some lurking in the shadows of our nightmares, others picking daisies in meadows.
But nothing peaceful ever lasts forever, does it?
The first-ever recording of a Supernatural being brought into the light was in the 1940s, in Nazi Germany. A man by the name of Professor Otto Escherich was conducting experiments in an attempt to find the key to transforming people into "super-human soldiers". After years and years of relentless trial and error, he somehow turned to the more supernatural path. A majority of the details of the experimentation have been lost over time, but all that needs to be highlighted is he successfully merged a supernatural entity with a human, creating the first "Supernatural Splice" (the act of scientifically combining Supernatural DNA with Human DNA), one of many to come in the far future. What this absolute idiot didn't realize, by doing this, he caused a large uproar in the Supernatural community. Although living in the shadows had its perks, they feared this would be the first of many unethical, torturous experiments to come.
Somehow in the 1950s, there was a global-scale discovery of the Supernatural world, and we all know what happens when humans find a resource they can profit off of; they milk it dry until it has nothing left to give. Before anyone could bat an eye, Supernatural creatures, Mermaids being slaughtered for blubber, Wendigos being harvested for their horns, small creatures being trafficked...the list goes on.
Until the year 2001, a Supernatural by the name of Samantha Sclera, a woman born with a 3rd eye, and had known nothing but discrimination all her life, stepped up and started a movement to prove that they deserved to be classified as human. After a whole lot of fighting, finally, after many lost battles, the war was won...kind of. It was also at this time, the discovery of Escherich's work spread like wildfire in the Scientific community. Soon, Laboratories dedicated to "Splicing" were created. In the midst of decoding the records and filling in the missing pieces, scientists were quite easily able to use these records as blueprints to splice people with animals, creating "Mutants". Their motives were to use these Mutants to benefit society and improve our way of living. Obviously, giving Supernaturals a complete say in the matter would result in a massive decrease in scientific advancement, so there was an agreement that basically settled as "having rights, but not really". Well...one pinch of salt is better than no salt at all.
2010 was the year things went topsy turvy. It started small, Human deaths with a seemingly Supernatural cause seemed slowly started spiking in the crime rate charts. Eventually, growing more and more. It soon became apparent there was a group of Supernaturals, both sentient and feral, bargaining for a war against mankind. Ancient prophecies foretold a plague would come to wipe off mankind, and they began to fear this was it. Armageddon was upon us, and there was nothing that could be done.
But one man saw through the dust and made it to dawn.
Cornelius Dennis Victoria, of the Victoria family who have been known for many tie-ins to the Supernatural and Mutant scenes for decades. He single-handedly formed what is known in the present time as "The D.A.G.R Association", an agency to combat reports of potentially Supernatural related issues and resolve them. Following his death, his son Oliver Cornelius Victoria took over and became Captain, hiring more and more agents and changing up how things worked to fit his vision of what his father would have wanted. The cases decreased once again, and everything seemed to go back to normal again (whatever was classified as normal at that point).
Our final milestone is 2017, a tragic event lead to the disbandment of most of the main agents, all of them going completely off the radar, the Association going virtually dormant. You're probably wondering "What now?". I'll answer your question with another question: What happens when floodgates are opened and left unclosed?
Baring that in mind, it's high time the real story began. Get comfortable, close your eyes and open your mind, and delve deep into a world you never knew could exist.
