*Sam's POV*
After realizing that Bobby was actually gone, never to be revived, I was crushed. I admit it. He was family in every way except blood. In fact, we shed blood for one another countless times, so I stand corrected. In our free time, Dean and I pour over any and everything we find connected to Bobby's death, but it's proven useless so far. It has been a long time, but we can't just sit there and do nothing all day long. In addition to that, we definitely can't act like it didn't happen.
When something weird pops up, Dean still leaves to do our thing, but I tend to stay behind these days. I could take some sick days from my job, yes, but I honestly don't want to. I'm still a full force hunter, and I go on the runs that are near Souix Falls, but I mostly read lore and study the facts. The things I wish weren't facts, anyway. It use to be Bobby's work, but now it's my responsibility to get what we need without the help we always relied on. Having Bobby tell us exactly what to do was a convenience that we took for granted. His job is tough work and takes a lot of time, but all I have his time these days.
I also do not go on several hunts because this job has become something for me to fall back on. A little glimpse of what a normal life could've been like. I wanted to be a lawyer, but since I didn't have enough school, I just got some fake records that show I studied education at Harvard. I'm smart enough, and it pays better and is better than working at a bar. Really, I've become fond of it. Unfortunately I have also become fond to some of my students, especially May.
May is the kind of girl that has always caught my eye, even before my teaching career. May is intelligent, funny, and beautiful.... Even though thinking of my students in that way is considered wrong. It just doesn't necessarily always feel wrong. But when a girl looks like that, it always feels right.
Either way, I try to convince myself to not find May attractive, but it's hard. Her strawberry hair has blonde highlights that cascade down her back in wavy, silky strands. Sometimes it is straight, but shines all the same. Her bright blue eyes are captivating, and her smile -her smile- it's so... so stunningly and absolutely beautiful. Indescribably, heartbreakingly, breathtakingly perfect. Her white teeth are framed neatly by her pink lips that always look so soft. Oh, the sinful things I've thought about those lips doing. Her plump lips on mine, swollen from being sucked on, her lips all over my body...
I shake out of my trance when Dean picks his phone up.
"Sammy? Everything okay?" Dean's gruff voice fills my ears, and I chuckle. He's always so on edge when I call him, like it automatically means something's wrong. Unfortunately, it usually does mean something's wrong, so he has a legit reason to be so uptight.
"You won't believe this. I was talking to one of my students about her grades, and I told her I might have to call her parents and BS like that to warn her, and-"
"Get to the point?" Dean says haughtily, (as if he has better things to do), and I roll my eyes. Douche.
"Don't be an asshole, Dean. Get this- she doesn't have any parents. They died in a fire at their family friend's house. Their friend's name was Bobby Singer," I blurt out excitedly. With a clue toward Bobby heading straight at us, Dean falls silent in thought. Obviously he's interested.
"So you gonna gank her or what? Did you give her a splash of Jesus juice? What about silver?" Dean questions, and I roll my eyes, forgetting he can't see me.
"Shut up Dean. She didn't kill Bobby and her parents. She lives here in town. I've seen where her apartment is. We can just check her out for a few days and make sure she's safe. I know she didn't do it. She's like, my favorite student, plus, she's lived here for maybe 3 years. There's no reason she would have just randomly committed the crime," I reason, and Dean thinks for a second.
