a/n: short chapter
Ash and River got out of bed the next morning on the right side. They could feel it - today was going to be a good day. After a light breakfast of pancakes with yoghurt, eaten in the lounge (on the second floor), Ash headed out to replenish her witching supplies. She had been low on honey cotton even at her parents' house, and she hadn't managed to take it all when she moved in with River. She also needed something else but didn't tell River about it, to keep it a surprise.
River started to unpack the rest of their things and decorated the tower until it was the perfect, homely place for the two of them to live. They found a crate of wool in amongst the other things and had an idea, but they started on the interior first.
They hung various paintings and handmade cross-stitches on every floor of the tower and found a purpose for every room in the place. Then in the garden, they planted a few tiny, native flowers (especially around the fish pond) and started a modest farm around the back, filled with mushrooms, lettuce, herbs and spices, and a few fairy figs.
Meanwhile, out in the thick of the woods, Ash had two sacks full of honey cotton, sweet peas and swifty-ferns. But finally, after a good few hours of looking, she found one - a giant shroom! It was the perfect size, perfect shape, and was miraculously completely intact. Leaning against a great oak tree, Ash managed to make the giant shroom into a shroom hat. River would absolutely love it! They had wanted a shroom hat for ages!
