Pia, being back at camp was worried about Cora as she had not seen her for the longest time. The only people who noticed that she was missing were Carlos, Lucas, and her. During the times as she was gone, every night they all talked about where they thought she would be. She never reacted around campers or told them about it. No one ever came up with ideas, except Carlos. Makes sense right? He's spent a lot of time with her... Right? But Pia was her sister. Oh well, she had to assume the best of everyone, still, something was off... "Maybe we could go to Hollywood? I bet Hades would have some ideas about if she had died." Carlos broke her thought process. "No, I don't think that my sister is a big fan of Hades, no offense Carlos..." Carlos' jaw clenched. "No! We need to go to the underworld! I just have a... feeling about it." "Carlos, are you ok?" Pia questioned carefully. "Oh don't worry about him." Haralyn emerged from the shadows and spoke as a backhand comment. Leaning against the wall.
Helena marched up, from a group of boys, still staring after her, and ruffled Carlos's hair. "Whoops, thought you were Lucas! Silly me!" She walked up to Lucas, who was by Carlos and shoved him towards Pia (showing the exact opposite of what she had done to Carlos), taking his spot next to Carlos, and making Pia and Lucas sit next to each other. Pia blushed, as Lucas's hand brushed against her own. "Oh, sorry." "Oh! It's ok, I don't mind." Pia said quickly, then realizing what she said, clasped a hand over her mouth.
Pia watched as Helena scooted closer to Carlos and draped his arm over her shoulders. Carlos raised an eyebrow but didn't do anything about it. Pia tensed as she saw the exchange, every day that Cora was gone, she saw Helena take her place. Maybe Lucas felt the change, or not, but his hand slowly grabbed hers, Pia didn't want the change. To her, Cora always felt like the leader of the group and she didn't want Helena to take that, or Carlos from her sister. The group walked over to dinner and during it, the rest of the group chatted like they normally did. But Pia, taking in all the things about her sister felt more worried than before. She knew her sister was a strong person but she hadn't seen her in days. Lucas and Carlos looked over at Pia who hadn't touched her plate full of food, Lucas looked at her sympathetically but Carlos didn't care so Pia decided to say something.
"Carlos, you haven't been acting like you usually do. Are you ok?" "What makes you think that?" Carlos gruffly put an arm around Helena and fiddled with her hair. She leaned into him, he brushed hair out of her face... Pia had taken enough of this after three minutes. She slammed her hands on the table and glared at Carlos. "What is your deal!" She yelled at Carlos. "What!" Carlos exclaimed with equal enthusiasm. "If Cora was here? What would be different about this? Fix it now!" The name Cora drifted over the group like a grey cloud, one that might either pass quickly or pour lightning and thunder that would wreck the entire world.
"Don't you mention Cora,-" He choked on her name and continued, "our Pup, to me. Ever again, until she is here, which she isn't. She is as good as dead. There is no getting her back." "Is that all she is to you now? A pup? In need of your assistance, the assistance that you won't ever give? You disgust me." "Don't you dare." "Dare to do what?" Pia challenged. He slashed his hand to the side.
Pia had never noticed, but a leather piece of armor that he always wore was on his forearm, it wrapped around, and when he slashed it to the side, a stigton iron sword appeared in his hand. Pia stepped back in shock, never had she thought that Carlos would ever threaten her with his sword. How could anyone bring swords to a disagreement? Yet she found riptide in her hand. Whoops.
Carlos gritted his teeth and drew it into a fighting position. "Fight me." Pia hesitated. Cora had said that next to her, he was the best swordsman at Camp... she didn't want to fight anyone who couldn't be beaten beside anyone but Cora. "What's the matter?" He raised his sword and thrust it out. Pia capped Riptide. After Carlos had seen her put the sword away and put both of her hands in the air, in recognition, only then, did he put it away.
