In all honesty, you were convinced the universe was against you this morning. Not only did you oversleep, but you'd accidentally left your bag in your rush to get to class. All on the first day of a new semester of college.

You were a Fashion Merchandising major and now that you were a sophomore, you were finally able to get into your coursework like you wanted to.

You entered the lecture hall a little over ten minutes late and creeped into an empty seat next to a boy with a black hoodie on. As you walked in you noticed your professor and several other people looking at you and cringed.

"I swear I am five seconds from losing my fucking mind." you mumbled under your breath as your professor began passing out the syllabus.

"Make sure you highlight the things I'm about to go over, they're important."

You cussed under your breath in annoyance. Quickly, you turned your head to try and find a familiar face in the classroom. Not seeing anyone you knew, you sighed before turning to lean towards the person sitting next to you.

"Excuse me." you whispered, trying not to draw attention to yourself.

The boy turned towards you, looking visibly annoyed. "I'm not signing any autographs, don't even ask."

You scrunched your face, who the fuck does this white boy he think he is?

"I was gonna ask if you had an extra highlighter since I forgot my bag, but never mind." you moved over to the empty seat on the other to create some space. "And for the record, I don't ask randoms for their autographs."

You didn't speak to the boy for the rest of class, the girl in front of you offered you a highlighter having overheard your conversation and as soon as the professor dismissed everyone you quickly stood up to leave.

"Ms. l/n." you heard your professor call from the front of the hall, "May I speak with you a moment?"

"Yes, ma'am." you said as you made your way to the front.

"Why are you in my class both late and unprepared? Attendance is mandatory and so is participation. I heard promising things about you from my colleagues, but it looks like they may have misjudged you."

You frowned apologetically, "I am so sorry, Dr. Johnson. I overslept today and forgot my bag in the rush out of my apartment. I fully own up to it and I'm sorry."

Dr. Johnson smiled, "I hear you, but no more lates, understand me? I have high hopes for you, young lady."

"Yes, ma'am. I promise I'll be on time tomorrow."

"You better, we have a lot of work to do."

"Of course."

"I just can't believe the audacity!" you ranted to Ariana, your best friend since elementary school. "Like bye who even are you? Probably a fucking TikTok boy or something. Don't nobody want your autograph."

"I'm still stuck on that...who is asking for a damn autograph in the middle of a lecture?" she chimed in.

"That's what I'm saying! Obviously I need supplies since I'm sitting here empty handed."

"And speaking of that, I got in trouble with Dr. Johnson today for being late! I was looking forward to her class the most and everything. I swear today is just not my day."

"Girl stop stressing. There's nothing you can do about any of that right now so just focus on making sure tomorrow is better. Because I know once y'all get into this course you're eating everyone else up."
