Some of you guys are really going to hate me for this chapter and I am sorry. Truly I am. I recommend grabbing some tissues before you start.

Emerson

The day was finally here, I threw off the covers and opened the curtains, letting in the warmed spring air. Rye wasn't in the room but that was because he had spent the night in Jase's room doing whatever the hell they needed to. Isabella told me she would be here first thing in the morning, because it wasn't everyday that there was a royal wedding.

I heard a knock on the door and I opened it to find Nina, Isla, and Ember.

Ember threw her arms around my waist and squeezed. I felt my heart surge as I remembered my own sister doing that to me.

"I missed you so much!" Her voice squealed I wrapped my arms around her. I spun her around and placed her back on the ground. "Is it true, is it true?" I laughed.

"Is what true?" She held up a hand to her mouth as if whatever she was going to say next was a secret. I leaned in closer.

"Is it true that you're a burner now like me?" Her eyes grew wide and I smiled. I shook my head and held out my palm. A small flicker of flame danced in my hand. I still wasn't the best with controlling the fire in large quantities but Rye was helping me learn to control it. I closed my hand and the flame disappeared. "That's so cool, you're the only person I know with two powers." She spun around the room talking about how cool it was that I was going to be her new Sister.

Isla came up and hugged me next, her white hair already perfectly flowing down her back. Sometimes it was hard not to hate her. She gave me a quick squeeze and then held me at arms length.

"I am so excited for you!" I could see the tears glistening in her eyes. "I remember when you ran away from Rye at his party and now look at you."

"Isla," I tucked a loose strand of hair behind me ear. "There is something I wanted to ask you, I know it's late notice but I kind of forgot. Will you be my Maid of Honor." A tear rolled down her cheek.

"Yes." She smiled at me, "But only if you will be mine when the time comes." She looked past me at Nina who was wrestling with Ember on the couch. Maybe the gods did know what they were doing. Setting us all on the right path to meet the people we needed to.

Sometimes I looked back on my past and I wondered how I did any of it, but I realized that I wouldn't be the person I was today without that past. If I hadn't been here Nina and Isla wouldn't be dating, Isla would be married to Rye. Maybe they wouldn't have become High Gods and Rin would have won the title.

There are millions of tiny decision that make up who we are. In the moment I hated it, but I knew I wouldn't change any of it if I had the choice.

"I am so glad that I came early." Isabella saddled up next to me and Isla. "We need to get started immediately." She dragged me over to the bathroom as tens of other people barged into my room. Ember was sat down in a chair and her dark black and grey hair was being brushed. Nina and Isla sat next to one other as they picked out their dresses.

I smiled and headed into the bathroom with Isabella, getting ready for one of The days of my life.

My wedding gown glistened in the setting sun, setting the white fabric a light hue of orange. I ran a hand over the beaded fabric of my dress. The beads made up constellations on my skirt that glistened whenever I moved. I was ready.

I knew that I could do this if Rye was at the end of the aisle. I just wish my mother and sister were here to see me now. Not just as a bride, but as a High Heir as someone who was going to change the world. Tears pricked my eyes and turned my gaze blurry. I looked up to the sky and said a small prayer to my family, hoping that they were watching me wherever they were. Isla came up next to me and wiped away the tear on my cheek.
