Hey guys, sorry that I have been AWOL all week. I live in South Texas and for those of you that don't know we just received the worst snow storm here since like ever. Anyways I've been without Power and Water for most of the week, so haven't/couldn't post new updates. However, this has given me a lot of time to write more chapters that I will be posting. Now that the power is thankfully back on I will be back to posting on my normal schedule.

Rye

She slipped into the room quietly, I could barely tell that she had entered the room. She morphed into the darkness and her training made her silent. I wouldn't have known she was there if I wasn't listening for her. As soon as I heard Gale outside my room I knew she was with him. She walked into the bathroom and came back out a few moments later, I assumed that she changed. I felt the covers shift over to her side of the bed, she was even silent as she slid in. My eyes were closed and I breathed deeply to make it look like I was asleep. To pretend that I wasn't waiting up for her. I was doing a lot of the recently, pretending.

I could only think about the first time I had slept in the same bed with her. The night after Mathew, but that was some much different than now. I feel like there was more between us and that moment was purely human need. I could feel her breathing next to me, I matched my breathing to hers. A lock of hair fell onto my face and I had to force myself not to run a hand though my hair to push it back. It tickled my nose. Gently, I felt Emerson's nimble fingers push the lock back with the rest of my hair. I was glad that it was dark because I blushed. I pretended to sleep until I felt Emerson's breathing deepen, and once I was sure she was asleep, I fell asleep.

I awoke to Jase barreling into the room. He didn't even bother to knock and I could hear him swiftly moving in the living room. Emerson woke with a jolt, a knife somehow already in her hand. I turned to her and glanced down at the knife. She gave me a look that said 'and you don't keep a knife with you as you sleep?' Jase stopped at the two French doors that separated our bedroom from the living room. He gave two sharp knock on the glass.

"Gods, Jase. Just come in already. You made so much noise we already know you're here." Emerson groaned as she fell back into the pillows, burying her face in their softness. Jase entered the room, he saw Emerson in my room and raised a single eyebrow. I looked over at Emerson and realized she was wearing a black night gown. One that was dangerously short and showing off much of her upper thigh. I blushed and clamped a hand on my neck.

"You are needed for an urgent meeting," He gave me a worried look and I felt the dread climb up my stomach. I jumped out of bed, grabbing my black suit jacket from the back of the chair.

"What's wrong?" Emerson threw the pillow off of her and looked at Jase. Concern was written all over her face too.

"Emerson we are needed for a meeting. I think your insight on the topic would be appreciated." I said to her. She quickly flew off the bed and into the closet. After five minutes she came out in a red gown, her hair braided, and I stone cold look on her face. She walked out of the door with her chin held high, Jase followed after her. I grabbed my crown from the side table and followed them out. I saw Jase poke her in the ribs.

"Do you even know where we're going?" He laughed at her. She punched him in the arm back.

"I know everything." I walked up and stood by her side.

"I highly doubt that." Jase rolled his eyes and Emerson looked aghast. I was glad that they were becoming friends. Jase needed more people in his life that could lighten him up. He was so serious all the time and he was my best friend, I wanted them to get along.
