Luz sat with Niall at some new café by her house, eating and catching up after he'd returned from yet another successful tour. They were sitting outside and enjoying the sun that seemed to always be shining, but Niall's constant questioning was starting to annoy Luz.
"Are you sure you're allowed to be out and about right now?" He asked her for the tenth time, eyeing her very pregnant belly.
Luz rolled her eyes and sipped on her water. "I'm here aren't I?"
"Yeah, that doesn't really answer my question. Does Harry know you're here?"
Niall had been skeptical when Luz texted him and asked to come meet her for lunch. He would've driven over to her and Harry's place in a heartbeat, he missed both of them, and his favorite niece, but Luz was very specific about what she wanted today, which was to get out of the house.
She was technically on bed rest at the moment because the baby that was supposed to come a week ago hadn't come yet, and the doctor reassured her that she would come any day now, and because of this, Luz wasn't allowed to leave her bedroom, let alone her house.
"I left a note," Luz reasoned. Niall shook his head exasperatedly. He wasn't sure who he wanted to upset more- Harry, who had been nothing short of a weird mix of panicked and doting when it came to the mother of his children, or Luz, who told him if he didn't get her out of the house in fifteen minutes she would chop his dick off and feed it to the sharks she claimed were circling in the ocean outside her window.
In reality, it really was a no-brainer.
"I'm totally fine. I don't understand why Harry insists on keeping me cooped up when I could at the very least help him finish baby-proof the house," she huffed now. As each day went by, Luz grew more and more restless, the only thing keeping her sane being when Ynez came in after school to tell her all about her day. And Harry, of course, was always there to kiss away her frustrations before bed every night. But during the day, he practically sat outside their door to make sure Luz wouldn't leave it. If he wasn't driving Ynez to school, or taking the dogs for a quick walk, he was there, sometimes right outside and sometimes in bed with her, having made sure that he had no work in the next few months so that he could be home and take care of the newest addition to their family.
Luz had finally convinced him this morning to spend some time with their daughter outside, and he eventually obliged, with the promise that he would be back to check on her in a little bit.
"I'll be here," she told him, one hand on her belly and the TV remote in the other. Harry didn't know what to make of the smile she gave him, but he figured the farthest she would go was to the top of the stairs before realizing how difficult it would be to walk down them without help.
And it was difficult. It took Luz nearly fifteen minutes just to walk down them, but she managed and she was fine, so she quietly walked out the front door after making sure Harry was distracted by building sand castles with Ynez.
"Uh huh. Then tell me why you've been grimacing the entire time we've been here. I dare you to walk to and from the toilets without taking a break right now," Niall challenged, hoping that he could get her to admit she was uncomfortable and he could take her home. He nearly lost his mind when he saw Luz pull up to the café in her car, but she rolled her eyes and asked him how else was she supposed to get there.
Before Luz could look Niall in the eye as she stood up from their table, her phone rang. It lit up with a picture of Harry and Ynez at Disneyland with matching Minnie Mouse ears, both of them grinning from ear to ear. Luz bit her nail, wondering if it was worse to answer Harry now or let it go to voicemail. She knew in her state that he wasn't above tracking her phone and picking her up to haul her home. It was fun while it lasted, Luz thought. As she went to answer her phone, she froze.
