Y/N pulled into school that day, with a foreboding sense of dread, it was test day today. Not just any test, but her logarithmic functions test. This was by far her worst unit yet, and as she parked and turned off her car, she unbuckled her seatbelt and rested her head on her wheel.
"Bring me strength today, universe. I need to pass this test!"
Y/N brought down her mirror and reapplied lipstick, and arranged her hair around her shoulders nicely, before grabbing her books and bags and leaving her car. As Y/N made her way to the Math hall, Mikasa was coming the opposite way, and waved,
"Hi Y/N," She said meekly and smiled. She noticed Y/N's worried expression. "Hey, what's wrong?"
Y/N shrugged, showing Mikasa the front of her Math textbook. "Pre Cal test today.." sighing. They crossed paths,
"Oh yeah, I have an Economics class today. Good luck Y/N!" Mikasa exclaimed, brisking past Y/N. Turning the corner, and walking down a long hallway, Y/N heard the revving engines of cars outside. Ugh, must be Connie and Jean. Principal Erwin Smith was always on their ass for speeding in the parking lot, but that was no big deal to them.
I approached my classroom door and saw it was wide open and empty. Not even my teacher was there. I entered and walked to my desk in the middle of the classroom. I didn't want to stand out too much and appear eager, but I also didn't want to come off as someone who sits in the back and ignores the teacher. I put all my books down and sat in my chair. I opened my book to look at my notes but decided otherwise. I just sat on my phone, scrolling through my music options.
Without looking up, I heard someone enter. It wasn't a student, nor was it my Math teacher. He was incredibly short, and he had jet black hair and ivory skin. I didn't want to stare so I put my phone down and shuffled around my backpack, pretending to not eye him out of the corner of my eye. He put his briefcase down, took off his black blazer, and draped it around the back of the chair. He then proceeded to unbutton the cuffs of his white shirt and roll his sleeves up to his elbows. He must be the substitute teacher, how weird. I grabbed my calculator, and pencil and rested back in my chair, seeing students begin to roll in.
The short but handsome man began writing something on the board.
Mr. Ackerman.
Test day. Pencils and calculators only.
More students came in, and the typical morning mumbles coming from my peers started. I just sat by myself, I had no friends in this class. It wasn't the worst, it made me concentrate more.
A few minutes pass and the bell rings. Mr. Ackerman is at the door, greeting the last trickling students, and then closes the door. The room falls silent, and stale with anticipation. Mr. Ackerman walks, no glides, across the classroom and closes the blinds. He then walks to the desk, sitting atop it, bringing his foot over his knee and crossing his arms.
"Good morning class. Your teacher is unfortunately away today, but I'm here to supervise you for your test today. I've been instructed to give you one hour to complete this test, and then the rest of the class is a work block. Does that sound good?"
Some nodded, some hummed in agreement.
"Good. Also, I'm Mr. Ackerman, but if you read the board I'm sure you've already deduced that." Y/N smiled at him, amused with his dry delivery. Mr. Ackerman looked over at Y/N, and he ever so slightly smiled. "I'm going to do the attendance." He grabbed the list of names behind him and began calling them out. Y/N had her chin in the palm of her hand, becoming distracted. Her name echoed in her brain.
