Chapter III
When I finally came to, I saw I was in a hospital room. I was baffled by what had happened before. It had to be a dream.. What else could it be?
When I looked around I saw my mom sitting across from me, sleeping surely, and Tiff right next to me, her hand in mine. She had a big smile right across her face.
"Mornin' sleeping beauty" she said.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I don't know exactly. We were walking home and you just dropped. The doctor says it had something to do with stress. You should get more rest."
"Walking home? I thought it was by the lockers at lunch? That's the last thing I remember."
"You hit your head really hard."
"You sure--" I looked into her eyes. They were bloodshot red. "You were crying?" I asked.
"Uhhh..." I interrupted her with a swift kiss.
"I'm sorry. For worrying you baby... I should really get more sleep." I said.
"You really should." she repeated.
She kissed me again. And again, and again. Until I heard a ruffling noise across the room. I look over to see a smile across my moms face. It had been a long time since I've seen my mom smile.
"Feeling better I see?" she said
"Yeah. A bit I guess. But I've been having horrible hallucinations..."
"Must of been the painkillers that the doctors put you on." Tiff said.
"Tiffany is probably right. They put a high dosage into you." my mom said.
"But they felt so real! There is no way-- Owww..." I felt a searing pain in my head.
"I think my little dreamer boy needs to get a bit more rest before he's starts arguing" Tiff said teasingly.
"Whatever," I said "so long as your still here when I wake up."
"Promise"
"I hope you get better soon son." said my mom. I could see the pain in her eyes.
"I will mom. Don't worry bout it."
I always hated having my mom feel sorry for me. It was because she was sick all the time and I should be taking care of her, not the other way around.
"Okay I have to get back home. I left food some food on the stove."
"Bye, mom!"
She left the room without turning back.
The next ten minutes were filled with silent kisses between me and Tiff. Twenty minutes passed, then thirty, until I broke the silence.
I pushed her away a bit and said, "Tiffany?"
"Uh-oh..." she said
"What?" I asked.
"You only call me Tiffany when you want to ask me a serious question..."
"Not tru-- never mind that sounds about right... Anyways I was going to ask, umm do you ever feel... like... you aren't the one in control of your life? Like you're just a part of someone else's plan?"
"You been reading those sci-fi books again haven't you?" she joked
"No I've just been having these weird experiences as of late. I'm starting to think that my life isn't what I think it is."
