Chapter 2 : 与你一起

    The next week, I moved into their dorm, which was 3 storeys with a whole backyard too ! It was only the 8 of us living there, so we had plenty of space, with 2 study rooms, 5 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. The study rooms were allocated according to age, with the oldest 4, Ding Ge, Ma Ge, Zhang Ge and Xuan Ge in the one on the 3rd floor and the rest of us in the one on the 2nd floor.

    As for the bedrooms... Ding Ge used to live on his own but he swapped with Ma Ge to live with Zhange Ge when I moved in.

"I think it'd be better if you were with our leader, he'll take good care of you."

    I agreed to his suggestion and took the top bunk while Ma Ge agreed with the bottom one. After I was all settled in, the guys took me on a proper tour of the house and we got to know each other a little better too.

    Throughout our tour, Xuan Ge and Yaowen kept nudging each other and laughing softly, making me laugh quietly at their antics while pretending not to notice.

    I helped Ding Ge make dinner that night since I had learned how to cook a few simple dishes back home and hoped I wouldn't burn down the house. With a reassuring smile, Ding Ge agreed and instructed me on what to do, helping along the way.

    "Do you guys need help ?" Ma Ge approached from the back door, walking towards us. Ding Ge murmured a no and continued on to instruct me on how to cut the cucumber. Looking up at Ma Ge's confused face, I shrugged apologetically, hoping I wasn't intruding on them by offering to help first.

    Ma Ge gently shook his head and smiled, pointing back at the cutting board. I took the hint and focused on the cooking, until I felt someone behind me. Ma Ge spun me around, tossing an apron around me.

    "You should be careful, you might get something on your clothes."

    Looking down at my pyjamas and back at him with his white shirt and black jeans, I couldn't help but say

    "I don't think cucumber will leave a stain," laughing to myself.

   "Right..but it doesn't hurt to be careful !" I smiled at his words, turning back around to chop up the tomato.

    Just as I was about to cut the tomato into quarters, the knife slipped on the tomato skin, piercing the layers of skin on my finger.

    "AH! ssssiii" I grimaced as I saw blood leaking out of the cut already.

    From opposite the kitchen counter, Ding Ge immediately rushed to me, asking whether I was okay or not and trying to pull me towards the sink to wash the wound. From the opposite the counter, Ma Ge looked up and quickly shoved Ding Ge aside, telling him that the sink water may not be clean and making him go get the first aid kit.

    While Ding Ge went upstairs to find it, Ma Ge sat me down and helped to inspect the wound, blowing on it gently in the process. I winced at his warm breath and tried to pull my hand away, causing him to hold onto it tighter.

    "Ma Ge-"

    "Stay still"

     "....."

    I looked up at him, surprised to see our faces were suddenly so close. Ma Ge also seemed to notice as he swallowed visibly and his ears started turning beet red.

    Before we both could get more awkward, Ding Ge came back with the first aid kit, scolding me for not being careful and helping to bandage up the wound.

    After dinner, we chatted for awhile and all went up to our seperate bedrooms. Since the incident in the dining room, Ma Ge had been pretty quiet throughout dinner and I was starting to think he was purposefully ignoring me.

MA JIAQI POV (point of view)

When Jinyi  had cut her finger my heart dropped, immediately telling Ding Ge to get the first aid kit while sitting her down, but I don't know what came over me when I looked into her eyes, as if I couldn't move or talk.

Thank god Ding Ge came back before I did anything else, I really think I should distance myself from her so nothing happens because she's supposed to be just another member of the group and I'm just the leader to her.
