"Catch me if you can, Lane!" a cheerful red-haired boy giggled.
"Hyuga, stop running around the halls! You're going to run into someone!" an older boy with spikey purple hair yelled as he chased the younger boy.
Twelve years had past. Hyuga Asahi was now eleven years old. He was introduced to the people of Artemisium as Hyuga Valhalla, the kingdom's second prince. Hyuga was raised alongside Queen Caroline's biological son, Lane Valhalla.
Hyuga and Lane grew up to be as close as brothers. However, Hyuga was raised unaware of his real family, the king and queen of Solaria and his real brother, Hikaru Asahi, who was doomed to fall to the curse of Helios.
The two boys continued to chase each other until Hyuga accidentally bumped into someone. He looked up and saw a man with black hair with purple streaks and green eyes.
This was Lucifer, a demon who used to be the ruler of the dark moors, the most dangerous part of the enchanted forest. Ever since Helios took control of the moors, Lucifer was taken care of by the Valhalla family, who founded him covered in burn marks and wounds. Over the years, he grew to appreciate the family's kindness and eventually became their most loyal servant.
"My, my. I do not remember asking the maids to put that much sugar in this morning's tea cakes." he said calmly with a smile.
"Ah! Sorry, I didn't mean to-" Hyuga wanted to apologise but Lucifer cut him off.
"No, it is fine. I just came here to bring you two a message from your mother."
Lane asked, "What is it, Lucifer?"
"You two and her will be going to Solaria next week to celebrate Prince Hikaru's twelfth birthday." the demon replied.
"Solaria? Where is that?" Hyuga asked Lane curiously.
"You don't know? It's the kingdom just across the river!" Lane said.
"Oh! I can't wait to go there! Maybe we can be friends with him!"
Lucifer chuckled at this. "I hope you two have prepared some wonderful gifts for Prince Hikaru. He will surely be happy! Now then, I must take my leave." He then vanished in a wisp of purple.
"Ugh, I always get scared when he does that..." Hyuga shivered a bit.
"Well...he is a spirit..." Lane said.
Suddenly, Lane's pet hedgehog, Harry appeared on his shoulder.
Hyuga noticed this and got closer to the hedgehog. "Hi, Harry!" he greeted the tiny creature. It squeaked in response.
Then Hyuga mischievously smiled at his adoptive brother. "Maybe we should give Harry as a present."
"No!" Lane snapped. "I've had Harry for almost ten years now! I am not giving him up!"
"What are we going to give Hikaru then?"
Lane suddenly grabbed Hyuga's wrist. "How about we think about it while playing in the gardens?"
"Alright! Race you there!"
After that, they both ran to the castle gardens.

"So, Hikaru, your birthday is coming next week. How are you feeling?" a pink-haired woman asked a blue-haired boy.
Hikaru was taking a walk with Selene and Eos through the forests of Solaria.
"Of course I'm feeling happy! I can't wait to see what presents I'll get!" the twelve year-old prince said excitedly.
He grew up as a happy and humble boy. He loved to read in his spare time and walk through the flora of the kingdom.
Just as the two sisters had gifted him, Hikaru was very kind to those around him. He would sometimes help the castle maidens who had problems with their duties. If his father had any problems regarding his rule, Hikaru would offer his own suggestions to him, which for most of the times, worked!
However, he grew up not knowing about the curse that was looming over him as his parents did not want him to be burdened by the thought of such a miserable fate. He too was unaware of his own sibling, Hyuga, separated from him for the greater good of himself and his younger brother.
As the young prince and his two guardian spirits were enjoying the greenery of the kingdom, they suddenly stumbled upon a small cottage. It had small flowers growing near the small windows and a chimney that was puffing up smoke.
"What is this doing here in the middle of the forest?" Selene asked. "Is there even anyone living here?"
"Well, there is only one way to find out!" said Hikaru as he walked up to the small wooden door and opened it.
The three of them took a peek. What they saw surprised them.
There was a bed and laying on it was a seemingly sickly woman. Beside her was a little stool that had an empty bowl and a cup of water.
Immediately, the three of them rushed to the woman's side.
"Are you alright, Miss?" Hikaru asked her. Then, he touched her forehead. It was burning hot!
"He - Hello?" a small female voice suddenly rang out.
They turned to see a young girl at the door. She was in rags, had orange hair with two long pigtails, light blue eyes and wore a headband adorned with blue flowers. She appeared to be the same age as Hikaru.
Selene took a few steps to her and asked, "Excuse me, do you know this woman, young one?"
The girl seemed shy at first, but later spoke, "Y - Yes! She's my mother."
Tears started to roll from her eyes. "Sh - She's been sick for five days! I've tried every herb I could find to heal her, but nothing worked! I - I'm scared that she might d - die."
Hikaru felt sympathetic for the girl. Then, he had an idea. He ordered Selene and Eos to wait at the cottage as he rushed back to the main city as fast as he could. Not too long after, the young prince returned with a little pouch and a jar filled with a yellow substance.
"What's that?" the girl asked.
"Cloves and honey." the prince answered. "Make some tea with these. In about three days, your mother's fever will be gone!"
She looked at the two items in his hands for a moment.
"Are you sure these will work?" she asked the prince.
Hikaru did not say a word, only smiled and nodded at her as he gave her the items.
"I can't stay here for long." he suddenly said. "I need to go back to the castle."
The girl was shocked to hear this. 'Castle? Is he royalty?' she thought.
This thought played in her mind, so much that she did not realize that the three people she met were already gone. Later, she returned into her house in order to prepare her mother's medicine.
