Mood: Life Goes On -BTS
In Malaysia, World Health Organization (WHO) Asian regional office, about 20 delegates overseeing Asian health were sitting in a lavished meeting room, four air cons attached on both sides of the massive stylish room doing the utmost best to cool the room but it couldn't disperse the tense atmosphere in the room. In front of the room was a big projector and the lights in the room was dimmed so the presentations to be done would be clear. On the table were water bottles and some delicacies to keep their mouth occupied as the meeting was going to be long. In front of each delegate, a flag representing their countries and a tablet to take some notes.
The presenter stepped up with a small remote in his hand to maneuver the PowerPoint pages. He was an Asian man dressed in sophisticated formal suit like he was born with it, his hair pushed all back frozen not moving an inch.
Presenter: (in a baritone voice) "Good evening distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I am Daniel Lee and I am here to present the report on our current vaccine distribution in Asia and figure out the way out to hasten the supply and ensure threequarters of the population is vaccinated before the end of 2021"
(presses the remote and a graph comes on with a list of Asian countries with the percentages of the current vaccinated population. Most of them below 5% which was a worrying percentage)Presenter: (pointing at the graph) "As you can see the population is not keen on getting the vaccine. Based on the Vaccine reports that each country forwarded, the average population that has been vaccinated in Asia is approximately 21.34%. America has a record of 43.87% whilst Africa is at 29.21%. So we are lagging."
Cambodia Rep: (a young looking pretty lady) "ok we see the figures and statistics so now what's next?
Presenter: (presses the remote and a slide comes on written Causes , Target and Solution. He discusses the topics until the last slide with the question; What is the way forward?)
Taiwan Rep: (referring to the notes in his Tablet) "we have the statistics, the causes and whatnot but what are going to do to ensure that we reach the targets. What plans do we have ensure there is an increase in vaccine distribution?"
Vietnam Rep: (looking around) "should we encourage door to door vaccine delivery?"
Presenter: (thinking) "it will take forever to deliver vaccines given we have target and due date."
Japanese Rep: (nodding his head) "people don't want any intrusion in their houses. It'll be too much for the deliverers."
Mongolia Rep: (tapping on the tablet) "How about using basic facilities such as gas stations, food stores and public transportation to deliver vaccines?
Presenter: "It might work for others. We want something inclusive."
They pondered and pondered some more on finding a solution but all ideas were too cumbersome and a bit complex in the long run.
