cooking with cole

"Lloyd!" Cole said bursting into their shared room

Lloyd, who had been peacfully enjoying his comic book, jumped slightly but quickly scooched over more to the front of his bed as if that had been his intention all along

"uh what?" he asked confused by the excited look on Cole's face

"im in the mood for cake!" Cole stated matter of factly, making Lloyd's confusion increase "um...ok? and what does that have to do with me exactly?"

Cole laughed " well i want you to help me make it!" he explained as he grabbed lloyds arm and started dragging him towards the kitchen.

"wait what? no, why?" Lloyd said.

"because its too late to go and get one, all the cake stores are closed" Cole said as if that was the most obvius thing in the world.

"no, i ment why do you want me to help?"

Cole stopped and looked at him. " well why not? unless you dont want too..." his face fell slightly

Lloyd was still slightly confused though, why would he want Lloyd to help him? why not Zane? or Kai? they were much better cooks then him, he wasnt even allowed to touch the stove!

did Cole want to spend time with lloyd?

'no.' Lloyd pushed that thought away, they spent plenty of time together when training, surely thats all the time cole would have wanted to spend with someone like him right?

but Lloyd couldnt stop that small bead of hope that maybe he did just want to spend time with him.

"no, i wanna help" lloyd said.

cole smiled "great, then come on!"

the pair made their way to the kitchen and Cole wasted no time in getting a box mix out of the cubbard "its not as good as scratch" he said "but Zane and Nya would kill me if i tried to make something without instructions"

Lloyd nodded, remembering the last time cole had tried to make dessert 'from scratch' it hadnt ended well

"so lets see, first we preheat the oven to 350 degrees...then..."

he looked at the box "now we get two eggs and 1/4 a cup of vegetable oil, ok" cole handed him the box and got a big bowl out

"you put the mix into the bowl while i get the eggs"

"oh ok" Lloyd opened the bag and poured the cake mix into the bowl, a little bitnof powder mixed and spilled on the counter, but that was fine.

Cole came back with a measuring cup and a carton of eggs

"alright" Cole said after they had measured out the oil and put the eggs in the bowl

"you wanna mix it?" he said getting a spoon out.

Lloyd's eyes lit up in exitement like all little kids when there asked to mix the cake mix.

"sure!"

he grabbed the spoon from col and started to mix the stuuf in the bowl rlly hard.

maybe a little too hard Lloyd would later decide as a bit flew out and hit cole in the face.

Lloyd gasped and imediatly stopped, Cole wiped the cake mix of his face looking a little annoyed.

Lloyd couldnt help but giggle.

"oh you think thats funny do you?" Cole asked smirking "lets see how you like it huh?" he dipped his hand into the bowl and smacked the top of Lloyds head lightly putting it all over his hair

"no!" Lloyd shreiked, laughing and trying to duck away

"take that and that" Lloyd said as he picked up some spilled batter of the counter and threw it at him.

they continued to laugh and throw batter at each other, and after the batter was all used up, the eggs were used next

the fun however was cut short, when Zane came in to see what the noise was about, they of course got a lecture and he made cole an Lloyd clean it all up.

now they were both back in their room after showering, in clean pj's Lloyd couldnt help but feel a little guilty, if he hadnt spilled the batter in the first place, they wouldnt have been yelled at, or had to cleean up such a big mess, infact why wasnt Cole mad at him? the entire point had been to make cake right?

he looked over at Cole who looked just as tired as he layed in his bed and scrolled through his phone

"uh hey Cole?" Lloyd said quietly

"yeah?"

"arent you i dont know upset that you didnt get any cake?"

Cole looked up at him and shook his head "eh not really i mean sure i wanted cake" he said shrugging as he went back to  scrolling through his phone "but i got to spend some time with my lil brother instead and thats great too"

Lloyd looked surprised for a few moments, as a new emotion washed over him

a few seconds later Lloyd was launching himself at Cole, who grunted on impact before hugging the kid back "yes, yes i love you too" he said "now go to bed kid, its late"

lloyd pouted  as he complied but couldnt stop himself from smiling again as he turned away.

ok so maybe cole had wanted to spend time with him, and maybe he'd enjoyed it

lloyd smiled even wider and maybe they could do something like that again sometime (except maybe without the lecture next time)
