"Hey, guys? What is this?" A high-pitched voice calls out as her hands touch the cold metal bars. Her emerald eyes peer into the dark abyss that looms beyond the black rods. Another figure walks next to her, "It's a gate. Connects the inside and outside." The girl turns her head to face the other.

"We've never been outside before!" The dark-haired male tsks and stays quiet. "That's because we haven't left here since we were born." A white-haired male speaks up; a shorter h/c male clings to his shirt. The h/c boy hums in agreement before resting his head against the other's shoulder. The boy chuckles and pats the other's head.

The girl grows a smile on her face, "So is this what mom always tells us about," She turns her attention back to the gate. "'Never go near the gate or fence in the back of the forest 'cause it's dangerous.'" The grim-faced boy looked up, "She says that, but it's not true." The tired boy turns his attention away from the warm shoulder that supported his head. "It's not?" he said quietly.

The girl thought about his words for a moment before brushing them off. "Hey, Ray! What would you do outside?" Ray rubbed his hand over the numbers that circled halfway around his neck, "I don't know. What about you, Emma?"

Emma giggled before throwing her hands in the air, "I'd ride a giraffe!!" Ray rolled his eyes and leaned his back against the poles guarding them against the outside world. "Good luck with that." A h/c boy let out a quiet laugh, burying his head deeper into the pale boy's shoulder. Hearing the tired boy's chuckle made the trio turn a light shade of pink.

"This gate..." A pale hand wrapped around one of the bars. "I wonder what it's really keeping us protected from..." A soft, s/c hand gripped harder onto the male, his e/c eyes peering blankly into the abyss. '...I wonder indeed...'

"GOOOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!" A loud but cheery voice called out. "Time to get up, or you'll miss breakfast!" The children that had the unfortunate circumstances' of sleeping in the same room as Emma all groaned as they rolled out of bed. A certain h/c boy, however, pulled the sheets up more and continued his sweet dream.

This dream was short-lived as a small weighted figure jumped on his stomach. "Come on, m/n! You can't spend the entire day sleeping!" Emma whined as she shook him back and forth. M/n groaned and flopped back on the pillow, "Watch me." A mature voice let out a chuckle as she walked closer.

"Being lazy again m/n?" The duo turned their attention to their caretaker, Isabella. "Mom!" Emma shouted out in her usual happy voice. The woman chuckled and patted her head, avoiding the ahoge. "Hurry along now; I'll make sure m/n is downstairs in time for breakfast." The girl nods and hurries downstairs. Isabella turns her attention to m/n. Her slow steps and comforting aura make the boy roll closer to the woman.

She smiles and places her hand on the small boy's cheek; her fingers move to his left ear. The boy leans into the touch. Her purple eyes look at the child fondly before retracting her hand. "Have you taken your medication yet?"

The boy huffs out and rolls over to open a desk. He reaches down and grabs an empty orange pill bottle. "It's empty..." He slurs out drowsily before slamming his head down onto his warm pillow. Isabella rubs his head caringly before taking the bottle, "I'll put in an order for more. For now, I want you to try your best not to fall asleep. Can you do that for me?"
