"Isn't it exciting that some of us are going to be paired with specialists?" Terra Harvey clapped her hands together as she walked with her cousin. As more and more threats from The Burned Ones scared the school, Miss Dowling and Mr. Silva decided to begin training the students battle technique.
Lily Owens shook her head as she watched Miss Dowling hang a list on the wall. "I personally think we really don't need the specialists to protect ourselves. They're dicks anyways." Terra rolled her eyes as she rushed towards the list. Her eyes wandered down the line of names, frowning when she didn't see her own. Lily appeared behind her cousin, looking over her shoulder. She quickly found her name near the top of the list, and next to her's was Riven. The girl groaned, running her fingers through her curls. "Fuck that." She quickly left Terra alone at the list, walking to Mr. Silva's office.
As soon as she entered the room, Mr. Silva crossed his arms over his chest. "Good morning, Lily.." The man chuckled, noticing Lily's pissed off expression.
"Put me with someone else. Literally anyone else."
"I'm afraid I can't do that." Mr. Silva shook his head as he sat down on his desk. "Riven said he would only help if you were his partner." Lily furrowed her eyebrows as she let out a scoff. "And Sky said that he actually listens to you, and we all know that he doesn't like listening to people." Lily frowned, running her hands through her hair.
"So, you're just going to give into that? You're not going to teach him that sometimes he's not going to get exactly what he wants?"
Mr. Silva placed his hand on the girl's shoulder. "We need his help, and he needs yours."

Lily let out a groan as she looked around the maze in front of her. She tightened her ponytail before a voice spoke behind her. "Did I mention that you look really good today?"
The girl rolled her eyes, turning to her partner. "My fucking god, Riven. We are supposed to be focusing on beating the Burned One."
Riven shrugged before eyeing his ex-girlfriend up and down. "It's hard to focus when you look this fucking good." Lily crossed her arms over her chest, and Riven leaned forward. "And you're really hot when you're mad." He sent the girl a wink, causing her to scoff.
"I'm serious." Lily looked to the ground. "This is serious, Riven. It's not just some joke." He had been acting like this for an hour, and Lily was getting tired of it.
"And I'm serious, too. You look hot."
Lily frowned before she heard something approaching them at a fast rate. She quickly turned around, raising her fingers into the air. As roots began to form around the beast, Riven placed his hands on Lily's waist, trying to pull her out of the way. "Don't touch me." She snapped, turning to the boy, the roots falling to the ground. The Burned One continued running towards the pair, but quickly disappeared as it came too close. Lily let out a sigh as she glared at Riven. "This is your fault." She groaned, pulling the elastic out of her hair.
