He sinks into the fluid. I hold my breath, waiting for him to surface... But he must have knocked himself unconscious. I stare into the vat. I can just make out a vague, dark, unmoving shape in its depths. Shaking, I back away and close the studio door.

At first I just want to escape. But then I have...Well...I guess you could call it a little artistic inspiration. Ben was right—His chemical mixture works fast. Soon I'm applying layers of plaster to what's left of him. I shape and carve until I'm satisfied. The end result is striking—I did learn from a master, after all.

Lugging him upstairs is the hardest part, but I manage. When he's in place, I step back and admire my work before getting the heck out of Stonewood Estate. I leave Ben on the empty pedestal in his statue hall. I can't think of a more fitting place for him to spend eternity.
