*Adrien's POV*
Iris is walking around--better than before--doing little stretches as Master Fu has told her to do. Plagg and Fang stay close to her as she paces back and forth in our living room. The wound healed completely a couple of days ago; I told her that I don't want her to leave the apartment without me, Luka, or Marinette. She reluctantly agreed with me.
Marinette and Luka come over to see how Iris is doing, Luka sits down next to her, asking her questions regarding her wound. Iris gives him honest answers, he starts to get extremely close to her. Knowing him--he's always really friendly like this with the people he cares about--he's not meaning to. Iris must know this because she looks at me with a reassuring smile.
I blush softly and look at the ground. How can a woman as beautiful as Iris set a steady fire in my heart? She radiates warmth and safety every time she walks into a room. Her smile is so contagious; whenever she grins it always touches her eyes, making them sparkle. I'm very lucky to have such a beautiful, amazing, kind, assertive woman such as herself in my life.
I begin to cook dinner since Marinette and Luka are staying for dinner. Yes, I know, Adrien Agreste is in the kitchen cooking for his friends and fiance.
As I'm cooking, I hear Luka playing his guitar for Iris; I smile lightly, hearing Iris hum to the melody. I enjoy seeing my woman happy, it makes my heart flutter.
I finish dinner, set the table, and call everyone to the table. I help Iris stand and sit a chair next to me; Marinette and Luka help themselves, to some dinner and wine.
We talk for a few hours after dinner, talking about everything--Luka's rising band, Marinette's fashion line coming out next summer, Iris's uncle coming for the wedding next spring, along with other things. We reminisce about our early years of high school; how my friend, Chloe continued to always flirt with me--even before Iris came to Paris. With all the great memories we made in high school, I talk about how Marinette and I became friends during our freshmen year. Iris found it a bit funny; we talked about how Marinette confessed to Luka after I started dating Kagumi, how she and I broke up before her flight back to Japan.
After talking, Marinette and Luka head home, leaving Iris and me alone. We clean the kitchen and get ready for bed. While Iris scrubs down the sticky sauce from dinner out the pan, I can hear her sweet angelic voice humming; I notice that it's the same tune from the time we slept in the same room.
I come behind her and snake my arms around her waist, "What is that song you keep humming, Darling?"
She lets out a small giggle, "It's a song my parent's wedding song. It was written just for them." Her eyes hold sadness and shimmer.
I know she misses her family, I wonder if her telling me about the joyous memories she has of them would help ease her pain. I take her hand and guide her to the bedroom, sitting her on the bed, Plagg and Fang sit on the pillow next to her, and I sit across from her.
"Tell me about them?" I ask, wanting to help alleviate some of her pain.
She smiles a small but noticeable smile. "My father was kind, respected, fair. He always protected our people and ruled with a gentle but steel fist. He cherished my mother, my brother, and me. He loved all of us so much. He was a brave warrior, full of magic and light. My mother was a wonderful Queen, she kept my father's head on his shoulders when things got difficult for the kingdom, she always fought beside him, winning any battle that came their way, once my brother was born, my mother had to stay behind and protect him until he was old enough to start combat training. My brother was a selfless man, he had such a good heart, it seemed like he was destined to lead the kingdom into a new era. Then when I was born, my brother never left my side, he protected me, loved me, help me train to be a great warrior like our mother. Both of us made our father proud, the people loved all of us. We always held festivals in honor of my and my brother's birth. We were the kingdom's jewels." A tear escapes from her eye. "We were a happy family, until that night, I woke up from screaming coming from the throne room; when I walked in, my parents were dead and my brother was barely holding on, he died in my arms that morning. After that, I begin preparing to take the throne. My uncle suggested that I leave my home and come here, he made arrangements with your father and the Mayor within a few days, and then I left." She wipes away her tears and sniffles.
"Well, aren't you still becoming Queen? Your coronation is after the wedding right?"
She nods, "Yes, it is. I still have so much to cover, financial, politics, territory arrangements. I won't be able to continue being a Miraculous holder once I'm Queen." She looks at Fang with sad eyes.
Fang nuzzles her hand, "if and when that time comes, I will never forget you, Iris."
She smiles a small smile, "thank you, Fang."
