It took two nights and three days for Grim to finally reach the teleportation device. He dismounted off of Dread and walked towards it.
"I'm here, now how do I turn it on?" He said, staring at a giant gaping hole inside a metal wall that stretched out as far as he could possibly see.
Suddenly, a fiery explosive flew straight at Grim from behind. He dodged to the right and the explosive crashed into the wall. Two more explosives were fired at him and he dodged those too. After they've missed, a big metallic creature charged out of the bushes. The automaton was much more bulkier than the previous one, with cogs spinning around it's neck, a tail with sharp metal sticking out, and a large cannon-like arm.
Grim pulled out Bloody Maria and started shooting at the automaton but it did not make a single dent in it. He spotted the thing's name below it's torso reading 'Destruction'. It stuck out it's cannon arm and another explosive was fired at Grim. It missed once again and he shot a blazing bullet into the Destruction's left shoulder. It exploded and the cannon fell to the ground.
The Destruction heated up in rage and charged at him. He attempted to block the big mechanical being's attack but the force of it sent him flying into the wall.
A strong jolt surged through Grim's body into his hand and began to spark. His hand surged with green lightning around his hand. The current dissipated and left a mark of three circles linked together with an X in the centre of the palm of his hand. He flicked his wrist and his hand surged with electricity.
He juggled the ball of electricity a few times before throwing it at the Destruction's left arm socket and it glowed green, stunning the machine. Grim transformed the skull into his scythe and dashed at the Destruction. He jumped at the left arm socket and vanished.
The automaton shook and sputtered. A scythe's blade stabbed out of it's head splitting it in half. Grim jumped out of the the Destruction's head socket, holding the tail attachment which sliced up it's insides.
It exploded and shrapnel was sent flying. He evaded what was coming at him and gazed at the mark on the palm of his hand.
"Hm. This marking seems to resemble the Dephamon symbol for teleportation," he said. He glanced at the wall to the right of him."This must be the Ancient Teleporter my siblings have created for easy access between countries. I've heard of it once before, but never seen it up close in person."
He noticed a symbol on the wall that replicated the one on his hand. He walked up to it and placed his hand on it. His hand sparked violently and the wall came to life.
Lights were flashing, cogs were spinning, and pistons began pumping.
The hole in the wall now had a glowing green, swirling vortex. Grim walked in front of it and an image of the apocalyptic world of the United States appeared in the vortex.
"This is our stop," said Grim.
He mounted back on Dread and they walked into the portal with Sorrow flying behind them.Grim, Dread, and Sorrow reappeared on the other side of the portal. They saw pale roads with a bunch of cracks in it, a whole lot of dead wildlife surrounding them, and destroyed buildings out in the distance.
"So this is America," said Grim, "Mavrock said I should start here, now for the map".
He signalled Sorrow to get the map and the bird went back into the portal. It came back with the map in it's beak and dropped it in Grim's hand. He unravelled the map and it revealed the map of America with a 'you are here' X, and the route to his destination.
"It says here that the person that will tell me where the Doors of Death are, is located in the Mechanical Dome," he said, "come on Dread, lets ride".
He flicked the reins in a giddy-up motion and Dread bolted with high speed along the road.
As they entered the abandoned city, Dread reduced his speed back down to a steady pace. Grim halted and checked the map, to his surprise, the X has moved closer to the Dome.
"If I'm here, then where the hell is Dome?" he said searching through the rubble.
After his long search he found a pedestal with the teleportation marking inscribed into it. He walked up to it and placed his hand on it. Electricity surged through his hand activating a vortex to open. He let go of the pedestal and dropped his hand to his side.
He was about to enter the portal when something jumped out of the rubble behind him.
Without looking, Grim brought out Bloody Maria, aimed behind him and pulled the trigger, firing at it's face. It fell on it's back and he turned around to see who he shot.
It was a computer/television screen with wires coming from the bottom.
"Something isn't right," said Grim.
He walked back to the portal and jumped into it. He landed on a small, thin ramp heading down. It zig-zagged, loopty-looped, and twist into many different paths along his way down. Once he reached the end, he was surprised of what he saw.
It was an underground metallic dome with copper wire trees, ground wire floors with metal sheets over them making them barely visible, and a surge a electricity flowing through the Metal Dome.
Grim looked at the map and the routes and destinations changed into the map of the Mechanical Dome.
"What kind of magic is this?" He said turning the map over trying to find a name on it.
Finally, he found writing, "the map of Allos," he read on, "this map reveals everything about the holder's location. It also marks down routes where the holder wishes to go."
He flipped the map back to its front and it showed him where to go once more.
He smiled under his mask, ravelling up the map and said, "no matter how many times I shall get lost this map is the greatest item ever".
He placed it in his belt loop and walked to the only opened door in front of him.
