Jana Gana Mana is the National Anthem of India, subject to such alterations in the words as the Government may authorise as occasion arises; and the song Vande Matram, which has played a historic part in the struggle for Indian Freedom, shall be honoured equally with Jana Gana and shall have equal status with it, (constituent Assembly of India 1950). According to part XVII of the constitution of India, Hindi is the Devanagari script is the official language of the union, along with English as an additional official language States and union Territories can have a different official language of their own other than Hindi or English. India is a great country where people speak different languages but the National language is Hindi. India is a full of different castes, creeds, religion and cultures but they live together. That's the reasons India is famous for the common saying of " Unity in Diversity". India is the seventh - largest country in the whole world. India has the second - largest population in the world. India is also known as Bharat, Hindustan and sometimes Aryavart. It is surrounded by oceans from three sides which are Bay of Bengal in the east, the Arabian sea in the west and Indian Oceans in the south. People of different regions such as Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikkim lives together from ancient times.
Just as you read that people of different cultures live here. What a good thing it is to live here with so much love right now and even today all the people remain the same.

Spices and herbs such as black pepper, cinnamon, turmeric and cardamon have been used by Indians for thousands of years for both culinary and health purposes. Spices indigenous to India (such as cardamon and turmeric) were cultivated as early as the 8th century BC in the gardens of Babylon.
Sushruta an ancient surgeon (around 4th century) BC used white Mustard and other aromatic plants in bed sheets to ward off malignant spirits. He also applied a poultice from sesame to postoperative wounds which may have acted as an antiseptic.Medical writings of Charaka (1st century) and Sushruta 11(2nd century) a reference spices and herbs such as cardamon, ginger turmeric, cinnamon and papper for healing purposes. Spices such as cardamon, ginger, turmeric,cinnamon, cumin and mustard seed were included in ancient herbs medicines for different types of health benefits. In Ayurvedic medicine, spices such as cloves and cardamon were wrapped in betel - nut leaves and chewed after meals to increase the flow of saliva and aid digestion.
