Phase 1

It's been like this for a while now. Your mother caught an incurable disease plunging her into a deep sleep which she'll never wake up from. Leaving you and your brother alone.

You had to take care of everything, paying the apartment, the hospital bills, your brother's school fees, and both your living expenses. What about your father? You don't know one day he just left. Your mother always used to say he still loved you and would come back but after all those years you prefer to think of him as dead. If he really wanted to come back he would've done it a while ago.

And your brother? Even if you wanted him to help you pay he couldn't. After your mother got sick he became depressed and now stays inside gaming most of the time. He mostly only gets out to go to school which you convinced him to do.

You were one year older than him but still took the mother role. You took care of him. Even if at first it made him mad that you tried to replace your mother he understood why and now he just tries his best not to be too needy.

He really appreciated all your efforts and felt bad for being useless. Just knowing he was grateful made it worth it. You quitted studying after high school to focus on making money. 

You tried a few small jobs but none could cover all the fees and ended up becoming a hunter. The most dangerous but lucrative job. The only thing in your way was your strength you were the lowest of the lowest. E-rank but you could probably create a new category just for you and be called F-rank but you didn't care you were awakened and would make profits out of it.

All bringing you to this day a year later after starting to work as a hunter. Today was time for a new raid a D-rank one.

' This will be a tough one,' you thought as you opened the front door of your apartment ready to leave.

" I'm going, see ya later!" You said to your brother. He came to you, " Do you really have to go? It's a D-rank one, you should pass and wait for an E one..."

" As always no I won't skip it and don't worry I always make it out, right? Besides, we're short on money so this will be perfect." You said giving him a wide smile and a small hug.

" Hi, I am here for the D-rank raid," you said to the team leader.

" Ahh perfect everyone is here now you can join the others. Don't forget to stay in the back, we'll protect you." He answered.

" Sure thing, I'll be in your care!" You told him and went to the others.

You did as always and tried to lay low. It worked... until a man noticed you.

" Oh here to cover a free spot? I guess I don't mind having a pretty Lady cheering us, hehe." He said as he was eyeing you, giving dirty looks.

" Why don't you wear a short skirt next time? If you do I'll be sure to stay close and protect that body of yours." Another one commented.

Some more dirty comments later the leader finally arrived, " Will you all stop, if she leaves there will be no raid today plus she isn't here for her looks or for filling the count. She will help with strategies now I don't want to hear another word like that!"

You thanked him and everyone went into the gate. You were the last one to enter, " Let's do this, for mom and for (b/n). (b/n=brother's/name)

The raid was easier than expected and it went by fast. As always you got injured but a healer who is often with you healed you as always.

" It's too dangerous you should really think of a change of jobs. I'm serious it's your life that is on the line! At least buy a weapon or something..." She said. She was like a sister to you but that bond always made her worry too much.

" I don't want to, I'd miss it. And for the weapon, I prefer fighting bear hand it's way more satisfying to beat them with your own strength." You answered her with a sparkle in your eyes. Of course, there was another reason called money but it was still true, you did like that job even with all those scums who never respect you.

All that was left now was the boss and you only had earned one low-grade magical core. ' Aww, really? Only one even tho it's a D gate? I need to find a way to bring home more.'

" There's another entrance over here," someone screamed pointing to a tunnel. ' That's my chance.'

Everyone followed the leader to the tunnel entrance.

" A double lair, wow it's actually real. We got lucky." He started. " Ok everyone we got a choice to make here. Since the gate doesn't close before the boss is dead and we didn't encounter it we can assume he is inside. So now we should report it to the guild and let them deal with it but our benefits would drop, the other option is we go in there and beat it. Let's do a vote."

You were the only one who hasn't voted and it was a tie. You needed the money. " I'll go!"

With that everyone agreed and started to walk inside the tunnel.

Hoi Hoi so ik there's not a lot of actions rn and y'all knows what's gonna happen next but I just gotta set everything first and then the fun gonna start so don't quit yet!
