Did Korra want to have a roommate in her university dorm? No.
Was Korra surprised when she met her roommate, to realise she's rich, and probably a snob? No.
Is her roommate objectively very hot, and enough to make Korra's bisexual heart flutter? No.
(Yes.)
"Did you at least get the bread?" Her roommate Asami asks as she digs through the very empty fridge.
"Nope." Korra said from her position on the couch, with her video game controller in hand, aggressively smashing the buttons.
"Did you get anything from the store?" The frustration in Asami's voice is clear, but Korra keeps her eyes placed firmly on the game in front of her. Because angry Asami is a sight to behold, perfect hair flowing back and forth, green eyes alight with an angry sense of passion (honestly, who gets this passionate about bread?)
"Ice cream?" Except it would be a little bit better if other people were able to annoy Asami the same amount that Korra seemed to be able to, as as nice as it is to see Asami in all of her angry glory, it's not so nice to have that same anger aimed at you.
Korra has even tried to get Bolin to do stuff to tick her roommate off, but Asami always ends up turning it around to yell at Korra.
Asami sighs, slamming the fridge door. "Honestly, why did I even let you do the shopping?"
"Because you were busy with Mako."
"We were studying."
There was also Mako, who made this situation so much more difficult.
Her, Mako, and Bolin had been close all of their high school years, and Mako ended up going to the same university as she did.
Him and Asami became fast friends, which of course means Asami is included in every activity or event that her, Mako and Bolin would normally go to.
"Anyways," Asami starts her voice taking a new defensive edge. "You were off with Bolin half the week, so you're in no position to judge."
Korra quickly turns the volume up on her game, the epic boss music droning out her roommate's words, (sure it's petty, but she really has nothing to say in this situation). She smiles as she watches Asami roll her eyes and walk towards the door.
With a few mumbles that sound something like 'I'm going out' Asami grabs her purse and hastily leaves.
Once she's sure Asami isn't in earshot Korra turns down the volume on her game, and calls Bolin.
He picks up on the third ring.
Korra starts talking before he even has a chance to say 'hi.' "I just don't get it! How can she look so good, but be so rude at the same time?" She barely even has to imply who she's talking about, as this is a pretty normal thing to call about for the two of them. "You know, tip, if you bring up Mako she gets really defensive, which is a nice counter to searing frustration. So I think I'll mention him some more. Are they dating? Ugh, why does she have to be straight?"
The silence on the other side of the phone is deafening. "Bolin? Are you still there?" She asks.
"...Korra?" A familiar voice comes through. A particular female voice.
"Oh. Crap." Is all Korra manages to say.
They sit in silence for another few moments, before Asami tentatively breaks it.
"...You think I'm hot?" Followed by. "...You think I'm straight?"
Korra clears her throat. "Well, yes. I sort of... maybe... kind of... think you're hot. Sorry this is really weird, I didn't mean to make things weird-"
"No, no, it's okay. I'm just surprised, that's all." Asami's anger from before is gone, but the fact that it's over the phone makes it tougher for Korra to know what tone she has now. "For the record, I think you're sort of, maybe, kind of hot too."
"I- What?" Korra blinks, "You do?"
"Yes.""I thought you were straight?"
"I had a girlfriend when you and I met?" Asami laughs lightly. "I thought you were dating Bolin, are you?"At this Korra laughs too, "Bolin is practically a brother to me."
"Well then, do you think you could stop by a coffee shop around 15:00?"
"I think that could be arranged."
