Leo and the others scanned the ground. He swatted at his dark hair which hung gingerly above his black eyes. His skin had darkened considerably since the Calamity and his scars never healed. His slightly hard, narrow mouth twisted into a frown. He leapt off the enormous rock he was standing on and landed gracefully on the feet. He was nicknamed the "Black Cat" for a reason. The Collecting month had arrived, and Leo and his remaining survivors had to go out to collect the wreckage they think might be useful. Their calendar had changed to accommodate this month. There were now 14 months (the Collecting and the Arto were the two added months) and 332 days in the year.

The world had changed massively. To start off with, there was no water left on the planet. People survived by drinking coconut water, blocks of aloe vera (genetically created). and that was running out fast too. A brown hazy mist cloaked the sky almost mirroring the droughty, barren ground. You could feel the land gazing delicately above it, parched for water: the cold wind was the gentle croaking of the planet begging to quench its decade-long aridity. The people too, shared the dehydration and for once shared the same feelings as the endangered and neglected planet. The planet groaned and shuddered in pain and exhaustion. It had served humans and animal for millennia and what do they do in return?

The remains of cities and towns now provide the bare minimum of what humans need to survive it was almost impossible to walk along the streets without shards of glass poking viciously out of your torn shoe. Some parts of cities had abandoned the streets and used the sewers to get around but at least the smell was not as bad as the acrid smell of leaking radiation and burnt crops.

All plant life had died out. The once colourful planet now barely held any nature at all. Greenery was a rarity, and you could consider yourself lucky to come across even a weed.

Desert now were a normality and if you didn't die of thirst you would definitely die of the sheer heat. There are tales of people vaporizing once they entered desert regions.

Everyone tried to muster all their remaining energy to fight back, but they themselves had created this monster.

                                                           And now, it wanted revenge.
